In the evening of my life
I reflect back.
I see the time of childhood
Where worries did not exist,
Running over the fields with friends
Laughter in our hearts,
Not a care in the world.
I see the teenage years,
Where a man was being created.
Good times, bad times
But I came through untroubled.
I see the working years
Where times were good,
And after forty seven years
Retired unscathed.
I see my married years
Where my love gets stronger each day
With that wonderful lady who said I do
Nearly forty years ago,
She now has her problems
But our love increases each day.
In the evening of my life
I reflect on the now,
And can say it IS a good life,
But best of all,
I am still here.

I'm fully in empathy with this (except the numbers) - it's a great piece Andy and says so much.
Oh yes - and I love Beethoven - one of my top three of the greats from the past.
Thank you Michael, you have obviously had a good life as well and can look back and be pleased.
There is a saying that the four composers that are the greatest and should be respected as such are J S Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and your current favourite.
A fine write Gold. Where do you and I fit in, being millions of years old? Is it our evening too? Well, older than 1066 anyway. lol.
We just have a very long evening Orchi, it started in 1215.
Did we help King John sign that Magna thing?!
Well I did but you mopped up the ink that you had spilt.
Doh! I mucked that up too, as well in 1066. Why did I bother to turn up at these events?!
They wanted to hear your singing!
I'm with you Andy..... life has been good! You're such an optimistic upbeat kind of guy!
Thank you Lorna, I am always positive in my life.
Thanks ANDY for sharing "The Good Life" Godliness with contentment is great gain !" Thanks for the Beethoven Accompaniment ~ real Classical "Soul Music". I'm only one-third through my life (I will be 99 in 2082) and i trust my Life Journey runs as smoothly as Yours ~ thanks for caring ~ BRIAN. Please check MICHIGAN ~ Thanks B.
Thank you Brian, may your life run smoothly and for a long time.
Your poem is inspiring that even though after 18 years and my love still grows that it can still grow after forty years! Thanks for sharing, GF! (andy, if I may)
That love will never stop growing Christina, it will keep growing for eternity.
Of course you may call me Andy.
