MICHIGAN is the most unique amongst all the 48 Mainland US
States. It is the 8th Largest 56,800 sq miles and has the longest
freshwater shoreline 3288 miles. It is situated in FOUR of the
Great Lakes which gives its name. It consists of two Peninsulas
(see map) and has extremes of temperature 14F (minus 10C)
to 83F (30C) Its Resorts are popular all year round. However
most of the MICHIGANDERS I have met face to face have been
SNOWBIRDS (Seniors escaping from the Winter) in TAMPA FL !
They are all delightful as are those I have met in MICHIGAN and
those I have met "on line" ! Their Character reflects their State
Symbols as outlined above ! It has a population of more than
10 million and a low divorce rate ! Love to ALL BRIAN XOXOX

Found this really interesting - it's a long time since I looked at a map of the states.
Thanks MICHAEL ~ One of the many aims of MPS is to stimulate interest in "This ~ That and the Other !" Pleased it interested You. I have travelled a lot in the USA and each Individual State is as different from the others as are the Countries of Europe ! THANKS CHRISTINA ~ You are correct it was one I missed out because I only included 10 ! GREEN STAR STONE (Chlorastrolite ~ gem stones is one of my hobbies) is the STATE GEM STONE ~ The State Stone is indeed PETOSKEY STONE and it is a 350 million year old fossilised coral from the Northern Lower Peninsular ~ Near TRAVERSE CITY. It has hexagonal cavities and is very beautiful when polished ~ and can be worn as a pendant ! There is no STATE BEVERAGE but there is a lobby who want it to be APPLE CIDER \'cos MICHIGAN is the USA\'s biggest Cider Producer ! I will add that too to make 12 SYMBOLS. Thanks for your comments.
