Yet again it has happened.
Once more I was reading poetry,
The radio was on,
And this song was sung.
This song I have known,
Known all my life.
I can sing all the words,
Heard it sung by many singers,
They all sing it so well,
And yet today it was different.
It was as though I had heard it,
Heard it for the first time.
The voice so wonderful
Gave new meaning to the song.
Such mastery of words,
Of sound,
Of passion.
My world stopped as I listened,
Listened to the wonder,
That was touching my soul.
“Oh what a beautiful morning”
Moved me,
Moved into my day with wonder.

- Comment from author about the poem: As was usual for me the early mornings are for reading and writing poetry, I always have the radio on Radio 3 (In the UK Radio 3 is a classical music station) I hear the music but do not always listen, listening is for later on in the day. Sometimes though music comes on that stops me and it happened this morning about half an hour ago. The piece of Music was Oh What a Beautiful Morning from the musical Oklahoma. I have known this song and the show almost since birth nearly seventy years ago, and know this song so well, but the rendition today was absolutely wondrous, it was sung by one of the worlds top bass/baritones Bryn Terfel, I have never heard it sung with such feeling or commitment.

Well Bryn can do no wrong but I haven't heard him sing this before and I agree - it has to be one of, if not the, best renditions I have ever heard. And a great write to boot!
Thanks Michael, yes it blew me away when I heard it.
Oh Andy my Dad used to walk through the house singing this...... thank you.
Hi Lorna, so glad I could bring some fond memories to you.

Thank you Bian. Work? Work? Oh yes I remember work, it used to interrupt my day for 47 years and one month before I retired.
