When I lived at home we always has at least TWO CATS

and we never ever had a DOG ! So I guess I am a CAT

PERSON.  I prefer CATS to any other PETS for the 10

reasons mentioned above and also because they are always

NON-INTRUSIVE ~ They know their place (POTENTATE)

and insist you know YOURS ~ SERVANT & PROVIDER !

Their needs are similar to ours ! Quality Food & Drink ~

A comfy bed ~ A cat flap ~ A large Garden ~ Other outdoor

Cats in the Neighbourhood ! ~ TLC (on their terms) ~ A Vet

who is "cat-friendly" with warm hands ~ A scratching post ~

Guardians (you never OWN a CAT !) who know that all CATS

are DIVINE !  Thanks for reading NICE COMMENTS ~ PLEASE !

Thank you MIKE for a gracious answer ! The best of Friends can always "Agree to Differ" instead of throwing tins of CHUM & KITEKAT at each other ! Your Friend as always BRIAN !

      • LaurašŸŒ»

Sorry to jump in...but I must!
First of all, Brian, I simply adore and respect you for the response you made to Michael... ā€œFriends can always ā€˜Agree to Differā€™ ā€! This shows the respect we have for one another! Awesome!

Secondly, my daughter (a cat lover) thinks youā€™re the coolest cat lover that she has heard about from me! Iā€™ve shared this poem with her! She was gaga over it!

        • orchidee

Well, I dunno Michael, you got messy cats in your area? Around here they clean up!

          • Michael Edwards

Laura - you're quite right Brian is a gent.

            Orchi - not round here I'm afraid - I wish !

          • orchidee

A fine write Brian. Doh - why do 'Dogs have masters, but cats have servants?!' as one saying goes.
Ohh some cats prefer superior 'WHISKAS'.cat food. They're fussy you know!

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks STEVE ~ If you look at the BIG CATS (preferably in the WILD) Lions ~ Tiger ~ Panthers ~ Leopards etc you will see real ANIMAL MAJESTY ~ The LION is truly the King f the JUNGLE ! Kings have SERVANTS not MASTERS ~ Down through Antiquity DOGS (and HORSES) have always been MAN'S Servant but never CATS ! They are COMPANIONS for MAN and in my 35 years experience are at the least equal and in most cases SUPERIOR ! CATS don't have to work ! They are given free board & lodge ~ in return for being there and (of course) being FELINE. Everyone who has guested a CAT knows how true the maxim is "HOME is where the CAT is !" I rest my case ~ BRIAN

            • Fay Slimm.

You sum up the cat so well in this verse which helps us choose whether to be a car or dog lover - - or indeed a Both - - as for me I straggle a fence of long standing between felines and canines with which to share house......... as of this moment my dog is in charge of all goings on and I love Tess to bits - but I have only to hear of a neglected kitten and - - oooh - who knows.A lovely fun verse and the picture is gorgeous.

              • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks FAY ~ You demonstrate a lovely attitude of MIND ~ That you treat CATS & DOGS equally and welcome both in your home ! Pleased you liked the picture which does illustrate a point that most breeds of cats are similar in size & shape and character ! Whereas DOG BREEDS differ widely such as a St Bernard and a Toy Poodle ! Thanks for caring ~ Yours as ever BRIAN

I, like Michael, have issues with cats, they are arrogant bird destroyers.
For every raptor that takes a bird for food cats take four hundred to play with and kill!

                • BRIAN & ANGELA

Nature operates through Food Chains & Food Webs and Cats are higher up the chain than birds ! Remember Birds can fly ~ Cats can only climb ! It's the same with Cats & Mice. Cats are not always successful Watch TWEETY PIE or TOM & JERRY ~ the proof of the Pudding is in the chase ~ never the eating ! Yours BRIAN

                  • Goldfinch60

That is not the issue it is the number of cats that are kept as pets and are allowed to roam and kill for pleasure, they should be restricted within the home if they are pets. The food chain in the wild is correct for at least wild or feral cats kill for food, pet cats do not!!

                    • BRIAN & ANGELA

TOUCHE ANDY ! This another PARADOX in relation to CATS & DOGS ~ DOGS can (and do) kill fellow HUMANS and therefore have to be licenced and restrained ! CATS are much less aggressive and are therefore allowed "free rein" . I believe CATS should be allowed to roam free ~ especially at Night they are NOCTURNAL ANIMALS. Confining a Cat to a House (however Cat friendly) is as cruel as confining a Bird to a Cage. I am afraid on all these issue we must agree to differ ~ Always Your Friend BRIAN

                      • Goldfinch60

Agreeing to differ is the right way to go about any differences, it is a pity those who cause wars cannot see this.

                      • Christina8

I agree with your poem but still don't want one, though you make many a fine point on why they are nice to have. You are certainly right when you say "you never own a cat". I'll stick with my friends cats for now! šŸ™‚ Sister Christina

Thanks CHRIS ~ There are many factors which govern whether a person is a CANINOPHILE or a FELINOPHILE but I think childhood is the key one ! I was brought up with Cats (at least 2 at a time) so they were my friends cute & cuddly and Dogs were the enemy aggressive & noisy & frightening etc ! If you are brought up with Dogs you think the opposite ! Kids raised with CATS & DOGS (like Farm kids) are neutral & love both ! Hugs ~ BROTHER ~ BRIAN Felinophile !
