To the supermarket I went
Too get the weekly shop
Walking up and down the aisles
Thinking this would never stop
At last the final item
Into the trolley I put
Then went to pay what’s due
Hurrying fleet of foot
I found an empty checkout
Put the shopping on the belt
Then I looked at the cashier
And nearly walked straight out
‘Twas the lady full of words
Whose mouth would never stop
I never heard what she said
Though my ears I thought would pop
She talked of many, many things
Which just sailed passed my ears
As I couldn’t get a word in
Nor have for several years
At last it all was over
And freedom was my choice
But walking to the car
I could still hear that voice

- Comment from author about the poem: I think that Wynton can just play a little quicker that the woman can talk, not by much though.

I know the situation well. It's even worse when someone in front of you strikes up a conversation with her and holds everyone up. great write Andy.
Thanks Michael, yes that is very true.

Probably a load of old gossip! Shoppers were huffing and puffing in long queues in a shop, as they had not got enough tills open, and no self-service tills there either.
It's a pain if you have one or two items, and the person in front has about 3,647 items! Did you play the game 'Guess the quickest queue to get in to, to be served?'
I always lose at that game Orchi, no matter how short the queue I always seem to pick the one that takes the longest time.
How is the dragon that you stole from St George this day back in the 12th century?
I got the dragon in me back garden still. The neighbours are curious about it!
Andy,
A great write and the perfect instrumental piece to showcase it!
I guess we have all come across those individuals who are blessed with verbal diarrhea!
I enjoyed listening to the talented Wynton Marsalis! Not only is he an international acclaimed musician, but he is also a great humanitarian!
~Laura~
Thank you Laura.
Yes I have a great deal of Wynton Marsalis albums both classical and jazz, and even blues and country - a very talented man.
YAKKITY YAK YAK YAK ~ When God made ADAM he created an introspective non talker ! EVE was just the opposite a non-stop talker ! When I'm sitting in the Park I like to meditate but not Angela ~ she quickly finds another Lady an they gossip non-stop like Sisters and they've only just met ~ amazing !
Its always LADIES on the check-out they fit neatly in the slot ! And they chatter just like WYNTON playing MOTO PERPETUO ! Thanks for sharing ~ Please check my latest FUSION # GOOD HABITS ~ BAD HABITS ? Yours BRIAN
Thank you Brian, I knew a man like that, he was a member of our Church and he just would not stop talking and you couldnāt upset him, you could just walk away from him and he would not get in the least upset. He was a very nice guy and we all liked him and there were very many at his funeral when he died of old age. But he could talk.
Oh dear and she's there every time you shop! ha ha.... So you pay twice for your groceries! The music really made her come alive and I'm glad she's there and not here!
Thank you Lorna, I can normally avoid her but perhaps I was still asleep that morning!
This gave me a Monday morning smile as I think I know the same lady - - ha ha.
They get everywhere. Glad to have made you smile Fay, my good deed for the day.
Excellent write Andy. How many birthdays did you have while there in line?
It was only six this time, it has been more.
So you were a young man when you first met her?
one day at a time.
Every day.
