Growth In Gifts And Graces - Epistles of Peter Series - 8

Tune: Song 1

('Eternal Ruler of the ceaseless round')

2 Peter 1 v.3-8

********

We have been given by God's divine power

All that we need to face each passing hour

All things that pertain unto life they be

And unto godliness through the Lord, see

Through knowledge of Him that has called us to

Glory and virtue, by Him strength renew

Whereby are given unto us so great

And precious promises, that be our state

That by them we might be sure partakers

Of the divine nature, He [on] us confers

With such graces, and we have now escaped

The world's corruption, lust, it thus landscaped

Beside this, give all diligence, and add

To your faith virtue, an to virtue glad

Add knowledge, and to knowledge [add] temperance

To temperance, add quality [of] patience

And to patience, add godliness to bless

To godliness add brotherly kindness

To brotherly kindness add charity

For if these things be in you, abound, see

They make you that you thus shall neither be

Barren, unfruitful, but productively

You shall bear fruit in knowledge of the Lord

He Jesus Christ, He e'er the living Word

The long-winded title 'Eternal Ruler of the ceaseless round of circling planets on their way' is God.
A bit like calling me: 'The Chairman of the whisky watering, pork pie eating, and sherry drinking committee!'

Is it the WWPPEASC and aren't you the Secretary who is responsible for the Grand Ceremony Of The Passing Over The Committee Room Keys? The GCOTPOTCRK

Thanks Brian. I mustn't slag off 'modern' songs. They're just as good, rhyming or not. We can't all live in the medieval era for ever! Some modern songs don't lend themselves to poetic rhyming though. Not that everything HAS to rhyme.
You 'wanna scream it out from every mountain top' as one song goes?! I can imagine it in formal places; 'And now the hymn 'I wanna scream...'!
