ONCE HONED

Michael Edwards

ONCE HONED

Left behind

the tender bloom

of younger years

and inhibitions

which constrain.

The obstacles

when once unlocked

no longer feed

youth’s vanities

and when

the blunted blades

that forge

life’s fate

are honed

they shine

with

new convictions

entertained.

Those blunted blades when sharpened can cut through the sorrow of life into a glorious future.
    Good write Michael.

I'll threaten to sing this! heehee. It reads rather melodically! That will blunt one's blade! A fine write M.

Oh no..no..! Not the Orchidee singing ordeal .
What can I do to remove the melodic structure ?
      Answers on a postcard please.

Actually we hired a huge converted barn - like something out of a glossy mag - with six bedrooms but we needed them as there were 14 of us - all our children and grandchildren - to celebrate a certain birthday (nuff said!) . Had a great time and all chores were shared.

Just caught up with this deep and meaningful write Micheal - sorry hear about you and yours being rained on so much during your break - Norfolk can be beautiful when the sun favours the days - -still you were all together as a happy family and celebrating a special birthday with moments to treasure no doubt - good to have your work back again with this piece which shows such wise perception of time's gift to family elders. Great read.
