The Cards of Life.

Goldfinch60

The cards of life are dealt,

We all have a hand which we can play.

Sometimes the cards are low

And cannot win a way ahead,

Others are middle of the road

And you win some hands,

And lose other.

But some have the top cards

And win much more than they lose,

But in the hand I have been dealt,

I have the best of all,

As in my life,

The life I have nearly led,

I have had love,

I have had music,

I have had art,

I have had nature,

And I have found words,

Because the hand I was dealt,

Was full of trumps.

Not a certain Trump? You are hob-nobbing with politicians? I could. The PM goes to a local-ish church with her hubby! Would there be any point meeting her one Sunday over coffee after the service?!

Only if you want to be told more lies!!

I see what you mean, and good write Gold. I'm not one for 'luck'. I suppose I say it though in everyday phrases, such as 'A stroke of luck' or 'A bit of good fortune'.

Thanks Orchi, you make your own luck.

          A brilliant poem Goldfinch!

You have certainly captured the essence of life in your poem!

          Life is indeed a lottery!

From my own experiences in life I am discovering that you need luck in life at times to succeed.

          Keep writing

We each are dealt a hand from which we play. I am thankful for the 'tricks' my hand has provided and admiring of those who appear to have been more favourably dealt. Always keeping in mind the words of Max Ehrmann "If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself".

Very true da but I consider myself so lucky in my life. Thank you for your fine comment.

              Andy,
I love reading your poems! Their positivity is contagious! I believe the hand dealt to us is a unique one...just as each and everyone of us are! What we do with it, is up to us!

I am so pleased that you enjoyed us. Yes each of our hands is unique and that is wonderful.

Thanks ANDY ~ Ravel ~ Harp & a Van Goff Painting ~ plus a philosophical Andy Poem ~ a Blessing indeed ! I love the HARP ~ a Divine Instrument and I have Welsh Friends who are harpists & Penillion Singers. Some of my extended Family are Harpists. We are all dealt a different hand in life and the ACES you mention ~ Love ~ Art ~ Music ~ Nature ~ Words all enable you to dictate |Trumps ! Angela & I both play Bridge and it is so much better if you have a Partner who understands You and Your Game ! A Game of Bridge ~ with its hands and bidding and counter bidding is a good analogy for LIFE ~ Thanks for sharing ~ Yours BRIAN

Thank you Brian, I too play bridge and have done since I was at school, you know back when they had chalk and slate to write on, I still do not take it too seriously it is a wonderful game but can cause such rows in some people, I just sit there smiling to myself - it is not that important in life's vast tapestry.
