Tune: Marching to Zion
('Come ye that love the Lord')
Hebrews 1 v.1-6
Repeat lines as shown.
*******
God, who at sundry times
Spake through life's pages, rhymes
In the past by His prophets true (x2)
Now speaks by Christ anew (x2)
Him, He has called His Son
An appointing has done
He is made the heir of all things (x2)
By Him creation [He] brings (x2)
He being the brightness
Of God's glory no less
And He is the image express (x2)
Of God's person no less (x2)
He upholds all things by
Word of His power nigh
When He had Himself our sins purged (x2)
Mercy and grace had merged (x2)
For then He did sit down
Received the Victor's crown
At right hand of the Majesty (x2)
On high, His place e'er be (x2)
Much better than angels
His inheritance tells
He has obtained more excellent (x2)
Name, He from Father sent (x2)
To which angel did He
Say, Come and my Son be
Today I have begotten you (x2)
You be my Son anew? (x2)
When God did bring into
his Son, begotten true
He said, Let all the angels here (x2)
Worship Him, Him do fear (x2)

Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
Oh no - does that mean you have to sing most of it twice?
Erm yes - drags it out a bit! But it's a jolly tune, Pity I'm gonna sing it, but we can't have everything we like!
Thanks STEVE ~ On of my Parents Faves ! Sounds like a good Northern Choir ! Love the "Book of Hebrews" my research tells me only My Friend PAUL could have written it ! Your excellent Poem is a fine tribute to the Prologue ~ Thanks for sharing BRIAN
Tanks Brian. There's some hoo-hah as to who wrote it. Could well be Paul. An AV note at the end says 'from Timothy', so......
Orchi - does X2 mean extra large?
Thanks Lorna. Erm, it may mean sing it extra loud! heehee. You have to sing the relevant lines twice! lol.
I guessed that but I like teasing you Orchi............
Heehee Lorna!
