Just a Book.

I picked up the book,

A friend said it was good.

It was not the type of book

That I would normally read,

But this book got me hooked.

I laughed,

I cried,

As I read the pages.

It was so good

That I had to slow down,

I didn’t want it to end,

I didn’t want to finish,

This wonderful book.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Even at my age I can still be surprised, I was at the cinema waiting to watch a film when I saw a friend and as we were chatting the trailer for a new film came up on the screen and she said, I have read that book, I asked if it was any good and she said tat it was very good. I bought the book, certainly not one that I would have normally entertained, but read it I did and was absolutely enthralled by it - the book is "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". A beautiful piece of Faure to accompany the reading.

        Should have mentioned that the Faure is one of favourite pieces.

          That is a piece that I have heard in many guises, I even have the music for it for clarinet with piano accompaniment so I have tried to play it on clarinet, I could play it but not good enough for others to listen to it.

            Thank you Brian, I though it was a great book and so different to what I would normally read. Yes the impressionists were very good but my favourite period is the Pre-Raphaelite.

                I have seen the film -The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Good film a little gem of a film.

                One of my favourites for this year.

                I have the book on my shelf which I no doubt will read!
