The Light of the World shines over us all,
As it shined through his life.
This man who was no Scapegoat,
But painted his thoughts onto canvas.

THERE are three versions of LIGHT of THE WORLD
By HOLMAN HUNT a PRERAPHAELITE PAINTER (1827 - 1910)
The first (1853) is in the Chapel at Keeble College Oxford
The second (Pastels 1856) is in Manchester Art Gallery
The third (1904) is in St Pauls Cathedral
It is an extremely popular painting ~ worldwide !
The closed door represents the SHUT MIND
The lamp represents the BIBLE ~ the WORD of GOD

Please add your ARTIST and a POEM ~ Thanks BRIAN

Dali ever hallucinating,
handlebared and Gala led
with showmanship his repertoire
A master of the avant garde
a master of them all.

THE PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY ~ SALVADOR DALI 1931
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The IMPRESSIONISTS were a backlash
to the CAMERA ~ too sharp & too precise !
They softened the image and presented a softer
and gentler view of the World ~ especially RENOIR
The SURREALISTS Like DALI ~ took it step further
They painted not what they saw with the eye
but what the perceived in the MIND
Distorted TIME perfect example
Please add another POEM I will add PAINTING ~ BRIAN
I cannot quite remember his name,
but his oil paintings were always great.
The way he paints the wild waves,
slam against the boulders face.
on the shore its one
    Hello Brian, What an interesting poem... I always found acrostics very interesting. In terms of the rest of the poems in this fusioned poem, I really enjoyed the stanza about Dali. One of my favorite paintings is Dail's The Persistence of Memory. And, like you said, "They painted not what they saw with the eye but with the mind." This poem is very interesting. It is written by several contributors and yet, in terms of its style, the poem reads very smoothly as if it was written by one author in one sitting.
      Thanks JO ~ Because you are an accomplished POET ~ I greatly value your encouraging comments FUSIONS are an enigma ~ sometimes they work well like this one ~ at other times (like my current one on Fish) don\'t even get out of the water ! Perhaps yo would like to add a Piscine Poem ! I guess in JOHNATHON\'S mind he did want the Poems in each Fusion to complement each other ~ Many contributors ~ 15 Poems (the limit) ~ one theme ~ one mind ~ OK Unfortunately one is allowed only one PICTURE so I had to keep changing it ! I have had to replace my SALMON ~ In the present one ~ with MIKE\'s SEAHORSE ~ so if you write about DOLPHINS I will post a picture of a DOLPHIN ~ OK ~ One Day you might like to post a FUSION of YOUR OWN and I promise to add a POEM ~ OK ~ Thanks for your personal contribution to MPS ~ Your Friend BRIAN (UK)
