Natures Future.

Goldfinch60

The time has come again,

That time of the year

When the fledglings have fledged.

They come into the garden

With beaks open wide,

And parents filling them

With food from the table,

That table that is filled

With food for them to eat.

It is a wonderful sight to see new life

Flying into their future,

Strong and healthy.

It so wonderful to watch them,

Knowing that we have played our part,

Providing food for them to eat,

To allow them to fly,

Into natures wonderful future.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The picture is one of mine of an adult starling feeding its young. This time of year when the young birds are feeding needs a great deal of food to be supplied, although it can be quite relatively expensive it is worth it to see the new life in our garden.

Yes, lovely write and pic Gold. I was over-generous on the meal-worms until I discovered how much they cost! And some take baths in our garden too. We put out some water.

Meal worms don't last five minutes in our garden! Yes we have bird baths in the garden as well - the water bill goes up in the summer.

We might forget them a bit in winter - not bother to go outdoors to the garden much - aww. Or maybe not, and we still tend to them. I read an article of 'sin' leading to some seemingly strange things - upsets in the balance of nature; unpredictable weather; more flooding; more sickness; etc. Ask Brian maybe - he might know more, linking in science with this.

THANKS ANDY ~ for reminding us that we need to be at one with NATURE and to maintain the equilibrium between the FLORA & FAUNA ! We have an obligation to water & feed the BIRDS because we have destroyed their natural habitats to build our own nests ans have covered the Spring Meadows with concrete Roads and Supermarkets ! So we should not be surprised when the feral Flora & Fauna & Insects come back into our gardens & houses to regain THEIR TERRITORY ! My MUM has a POND ~ Bird Baths ~ Peanuts & Fat Balls etc to encourage the Wildlife ~ AMEN Happy Sunday ~ Yours BRIAN !

I have been feeding the birds for many, many years Brian, they give us so much pleasure, especially at this time of the year when the young are being fed.
