Michael Edwards

WHAT AM I ?

WHAT AM I?

I can stand on a stage

and speak to an audience.

I’ve lectured I’ve taught

and appeared on TV.

Yet when at a party

I sit without mingling

and scarcely engaging

with folk I don’t know.

I really hate small talk

when chatting with strangers

struggling to think

of something to say.

Maybe I’m an introvert

or just a bit shy

I ask the question:

‘What am I?’

Very good write Michael, I can understand this a I am much the same. We are back to our 'masks'. we where different ones on different occasions and the one we wear to parties is the introverted one.

Talking for the sake of it is a real chore - I'm always thinking I could put my time to better use, Cheers Andy.

A fine write Michael. Is it a quiz too? Do we guess what you are?!

Go on have a go - not that I know the answer.

Thanks MICHAEL ~ I can SYMPATHISE but not EMPATHISE ! Scoucers (Liverpudlians) as you know are all EXTROVERTS in Bed (1 to 1) and out of Bed ~ in crowd ! Its the IRISH in our JEANS !

Made me smile - hope he wasn't too loose.

I can't say what you are aside from a seemingly and assuredly talented man with his doubts, as each man has some. I used to ask myself that question quite a bit, gave up after a while though haha. Wonderful little work sir. You indeed have many talents, some we know and some we do not. I'm sure you're worth much more than you believe. Each person is their own worst critic after all.

It's just me Nicholas - I really do hate having to hold conversations about nothing in particular with people I don't know. As I said above I always think I could put my time to better use. I could be painting, writing, sculpting, gardening or enjoying a G&T with loved ones.

In a crowded room, still alone. Much better things to do than having pointless conversations I agree. I don't enjoy getting to know people anyways. Much struggle.

What, or who, am I? Are you Mr Berles, husband of Cilla?!

No I'm the other half of Semi Colon.

                • orchidee

You got half a colon (semi) inside you, in your tum? Who's got the other half?

                    Michael,
You are your own best friend! No need for small talk...no need to impress anyone! Your talents speak for themselves!

Thank you for another great cartoon! 😂

I can relate to your fine poem’s message!

Thank you Laura - so pleased you can relate - I'm not alone. Plenty more cartoons yet - there's about 50 of them in this series. But something different in the next few days.
