CARING FOR OTHERS !

BRIAN & ANGELA

HOW SELF-CENTERED are we

Caring only for OUR House & Home ?

Expecting ALL the luxuries

House ~ Car ~ TV and a Mobile Phone

No TIME to ever think of others

Care only for Mine & Myself

Busy making Fame & Fortune

Leaving others on the SHELF !

Planet Earth is very FRUITFUL

Enough to feed the Human Race

BUT ~ There's uneven distribution

Some STARVE while others "Feed their Face !"

ALWAYS ~ live within your income

DEBT FREE ~ and always please make sure

You've something left ~ to share with others ~

PERSECUTED also the DESERVING POOR ~ AMEN !

Thanks for reading ~ comments welcome ~ love BRIAN XOX

We aim to help hopefully, even where we cannot be there in person., but some are all caught up in themselves. The 'they' or 'other people' who we may not know who they are exactly.

THANKS STEVE for a thoughtful reply ~ My Parents taught me to always live within my INCOME and never get into debt ! I rent my flat (from a Friend) and paid for my car (£1200 !) and I never get into debt and always pay off my credit cards. Being single helps but Angela & I are both saving up for a house. I do not regard having a MORTGAGE (you can afford !) on a house as a DEBT ~ just a deferred payment. Angela & I and have Standing Orders for Oxfam and other Charities (YMCA etc) within our individual budgets ~ Our Church teaches TITHING (10% of nett income) for the Church & Charities etc. I cannot understand how so many people get into debt and consequently have nothing to share with the poor & persecuted . The message in my Poem is for People in the UK & USA to realise just how Blessed they are ~ live within their incomes and share & care ! Angela & I have never smoked ~ used drugs ~ gambled and only use Alcohol as part of a meal and we dress sensibly and frugally. We like to be good role models for the Teen group in our Church ! Thanks for your comments ~ BRIAN

The earth can provide for all but those in power do not want to see this.

        • BRIAN & ANGELA

YES INDEED ANDY ~ God has provided EQUALLY but Man had divided UNEQUALLY ! I trust Organisations ~ Like Christian Aid ~ Hand in Hand etc to get the AID (I fund) to those who most need it ! Governments are corrupt and Oligarchs skim off aid for their own extravagant living but that does not stop me giving ! Friends of mine who work in INDIA are appalled by the contrast between the Haves & Havenots in a CITY like MUMBAI ! I have seen similar in AFRICA & to a lesser extent ~ in MEXICO & PERU. Thanks BRIAN

Sadly we are in a 'me' culture not only when it comes to caring but also in simple manners - I see it all the time when out and about.

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

YES MIKE ~ The excess living (on credit !) in the UK is obscene when one considers MILLIONS are starving and it can only get worse ! I will be 70 in 2053 and I shudder to think what STATE the World will be in by then ! Thanks for your comment ~ BRIAN

Wise words of advice in that final stanza of needed reminders of how much and how many need our care and our help. Living as simply as income reveals means we can put aside something to benefit others whom poverty weakens. A powerful read Brian.

Thanks for caring FAY ~ I knew this timely message would resonate with you. Debt among the affluent is very sad because it means that despite "having everything" they have no surplus to share with those much much less fortunate. Some of my extended Family work with a Mission in LESOTHO on of the Poorest Countries in Africa. They have very little ~ but value what they have and are happier and more content ~ than many of us in the Affluent West. Yours as always ~ BRIAN

Thanks Brian for this poignant and evocative poem so relevant to today's world.
Why is it when some people are rich they are still unhappy?

            Keep writing

Thanks for your comment FRIEND and Question ! It is not material things that make us HAPPY ~ it is LOVE of Family & Friends & Colleagues and the Community ! It is also my experience that more people have materially the less happy and contented they are ! The GOOD BOOK says ~ Godliness with contentment is great gain ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN

              Mio Caro Amico BRIAN,
Hai scritto una poesia piena di verità!
An honest and poignant write! My dad never believed in credit cards! Before he’d buy anything, he made sure he had the money to pay for it! I’m the same! The only reason why I have two credit cards is because there are things you can only purchase or rent with credit cards!
My son, on the other hand, had to learn the hard way of abusing the use of credit cards! It was a difficult lesson...but he learned his lesson! I’m proud to say that the entire family helps the less fortunate!
Abbracci e Baci per te ed Angela...
              ~Laura~

CIAO LAURA ~ Nostra Cara Amica ! Angela and I find living within our incomes is very important and we both donate about 10% of our net incomes to Charity. We have an Organisation in the UK ~ called CAP (Christians Against Poverty) We help people to get out of DEBT and then design a plan to enable them to live within their INCOME ~ Grazie ~ Abbracci e Baci di Angela e Brian XOX

Sadly this is the type of society we live in. Great write.

                • BRIAN & ANGELA

THANKS CLARITA ~ Pleased you liked it and got the message ! YES we do like in a ME ME ME Society and people easily get into debt and then have nothing left to give to others. I was raised to give at least 10% of my NET INCOME to Charity and for me it is always a Blessing ! YOURS BRIAN

                  • Clarita

That is truly amazing and many can learn from your example.
