Music is Life.

It has been there all my life,

So many different forms.

Has stirred my emotions,

Music can touch my soul,

Creating a euphoria within me.

It can make me cry.

It can make me laugh.

It can make me sad.

It can make me happy.

This media of no words,

Be it classical or folk,

Jazz or country,

Opera or rock.

I listen to them all.

Music is my life,

Comes within me,

It comes from me

As the notes I sing and play

Sail through the ether,

Into eternity.

The question is often asked

“What is your favourite piece?”

To this there is no answer,

Except the one I give,

“The piece of music I am listening to now”

  • Michael Edwards

Nicola Benedetti is always a good choice - great poem and one with which I fully concur - Super write Andy

    • Goldfinch60

Thank you Michael. That question "What id your favourite piece of music?" is so impossible to answer, I don't even know which is my favourite genre of music.

If MUSIC be the food of LIFE ~ play on

Thanks ANDY a beautiful haunting rendition to grace a SUNDAY ! Lifted my heart too. Love the POEM and it resonated with me. Having been blessed to be born in Liverpool to Musical Parents and with many musicians I am blessed indeed ! I too love all genres of Music and I even enjoy some of the Oddballs ~ Jules Holland invites to his Soirees ! I have been to a Jules Concert and I have a great respect for and his embrace of Good Bad & Ugly Music ~ Modern Music (like Modern Poetry) is a "Collection of chords & dischords ~ but not necessarily in the correct key or correct order ~ and Lyrics sans Rhyme ~ Rhythm ~ Reason" Being a Scouser I am always 101% tolerant and consider them "Works in Progress ~ Sympnonies but UNFINISHED" Thanks GOD for the Classics ~ Classic FM is always the Music in my Car irrespective of Passenger ! One of the many blessings of Angela (she is is a grade 8 pianist and reserve Church Organist) is that she loves and plays the Classics but also has a very Cosmopolitan appreciation of Music & Culture ! She is learning the HAKA and to sing in Maori and swing POI ! Thanks again for an excellent Poem and a Musical Gem ~ Please check my SUNDAY offering ~ BRIAN ~ A very Happy Birthday to YOU ~ BRIAN & ANGELA ~ Big Hugs !

      • Goldfinch60

Thank you Brian, music has always been so important in my life, so much music, so little time.

      • Poetic Dan

Beautifully expressed my friend and as sit with my guitar play to the ether I'm now think of this piece. Knowing the music is inside us all, thank you for a great morning read

        • Goldfinch60

Thank you Dan, the ether is awash with wonderful music and I know that I will be amongst it one day.

        • Lorna

May the music always play on in your soul!!

          • Goldfinch60

It surely will Lorna, it surely will.

          • Heartwriter

Music is truly a blessing and soothes the soul.

            • Goldfinch60

So very true Heartwriter, thank you.

            • orchidee

A fine write Gold. But, awww, why when I sing along to music does it make people cry - with anguish?! heehee.

              • Goldfinch60

Even you singing is from the soul and somebody somewhere will appreciate it.

                • orchidee

'That me singing or two cats fighting?!' Hope that won't be my motto! lol.

                • poetboy5454

I’m an afecionado of most music genres! The new found one is Electro/Darkware! Introduced to me by the one and only...HOOD!

You’re right about life being dull without music!

Love your poem and the musical video! Thank you for the share!

                    • Goldfinch60

Thank you Laura, I too have found Hoods work fascinating.

                    • dusk arising

So true. I would be quite lost without music. I have only ever met one person who did not like music. She was a very strange lady i once worked for, and memorably nasty too. I did not try to sway her point of view, i just made sure i got as far away from her as quickly as i could.

                      • Goldfinch60

Good move da, how can people not like music? We might not like some different genres but there is enough diversity out there to suit everybody.

                      • Christina8

I also love music very much! Loved your write!

                        • Goldfinch60

                          Thank you Christina, most kind.

Music is art form, art separates us from the animals. It's one of the few ways we're different. It feeds the soul. Great piece Gold.

                          • Goldfinch60

Thank you SLR, but even in nature I can hear music.

                            • SLR

Nature is full of music, I just meant that as humans we can enjoy it. I'm not sure animals realize the beauty of the sounds around them.

                            • FineB

                              Thanks Goldfinch60.

A beautiful evocative poem that has made me see music in a different light.

                              Keep writing

                              • Goldfinch60

Thank you FineB. Music can reach everybody.
