A fine write Brian. I bear with 101%. But I find it an annoying phrase: 'He gives 110%, or even 200%' seeing that's impossible! lol.

    • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks STEVE we should all be 101% behind the ENGLAND TEAM and very honoured to have GENTLEMEN like Harry and Gareth in charge ! 101% is a synonym for "THE EXTRA MILE " an expression we use every week ! I agree 110% and 200% is both vulgar (OTT) and absurd ! Masters of English (Like You & I and ANDY & MIKE & FAY) would never stoop so HIGH ~ Keep praying for Harry & Garry and the TEAM to be an example to the rest of the World and DV win the World Cup after 52 Years 1966 is as important hysterically as 1066 ~ Yours BRIAN "Football Crazy and Football Mad and an Everton Supporter for my sins !"

Hmm, now who won the cup in 1066? Can I (or we) remember?!

        Like it Brian - Bravo

Thanks ANDREW ~ Because FOOTBALL is England's National Game ~ qualifying for the European Cup and the World Cup is very important. Equally important is having a good Team and making good progress in each Tournament. It takes "Two to Tango" and England are very fortunate to have an excellent Manager ~ Garry Southgate and an excellent Captain Harry Kane. They respect each other ans also have the respect of the Team ~ other Professionals and the whole Country ! Pleased you liked my tribute to Harry Kane ! Yours BRIAN

Football is a gentleman's game played by thugs.

Rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen.

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks ANDY ~ Two very droll epithets ! All I can say is: Knowing that HARRY KANE & GARRY SOUTHGATE are both GENTLMEN ~ I thank GOD that they were both true to their Character and chose the GENTLEMEN'S game and not the THUGS ! ~ Yours BRIAN

It was sure a last gasp goal from Gentleman Harry - super homage to a great player - but then I'm a Spurs fan and always have been ever since I used to watch them back in the late 50s.

THANKS MCHAEL "Deep joy in the footymould" for you then ! I forgive HK for scoring TWO against EVERTON in their FOUR : NIL defeat recently because he is such a positive striker and proving to be an excellent choice as ENGLAND CAPTAIN ~ always my dream role when I was Captain of my School 1st Eleven. I an confident we will be 1 or 2 in our GROUP ~ then the Tournament will start in earnest

HI CHRIS ~ I suppose that I more than most ~ understand that the UK & the USA are two Countries separated by a common language. I hve stayed in the USA for a Month (Tampa Area) and after two weeks I realised it was just as \"FOREIGN\" as any of the European Countries ~ I think I would have to live in the USA (any State) for at least a Year to become Naturalised ! Occasionally when I go OTT on a Jim Reeves impersonation ~ White Stetson ~ Western Gear and a posh Texas accent ~ people have asked which part of the USA I was from ~ They laughed when I spoke in SCOUSE (Liverpudlian !) and explained I was from Liverpool and I was just ACTING ~ I\'m looking forward to presenting my talk as John Denver !
I understand Basketball and am a Qualified Coach & Referee @ College Level ! American Football leaves me cold ~ just as most Americans are not interested in SOCCER and never in CRICKET ! There are about 1000 \"English\" words that are spelt different in the USA and some that mean something different like HOOD for the BONNET and TRUNK for the BOOT of a car etc. If we are speaking \"UK English\" or \"USA English\" we generally understand each other an Spanish is my Second language (Angela is fluent) and we can both get by in Italian ! Sometimes I use American Spellings like FAVORITE ~ but i get my knuckles rapped by ORCHII (Uncle Steve !). Pleased my footnotes were of help \"Once a Teacher ~ always a Teacher\" Hugs B & A @@@@@@@
