Tune: Battle Hymn

('Mine eyes have seen the glory')

*******

O the trumpets will blast when the time it shall sure be at hand

For the Lord to come, return, and then will take back all His land

He will fight for our home, but the Devil he will still refuse

The ground to yield or lose

Chorus

He shall return, O be ready

Waiting hearts be sure and steady

Firm in hope and faith for soon we

By grace His face shall see

But all that is holy shall be returned, it so be destined

That the evil one shall lose, and all his powers must rescind

The trumpets then they will blast out at the return of the Lord

According to His word - Chorus

So be ready to praise Him and then to receive your reward

Kneel down, sing loud as you can, and give fine praises to your Lord

To welcome and to worship Him, He be the blessed Son of Man

Compare no other can - Chorus

He came to earth, and lived and died, it was for sake of the bride

Now He lives again for ever, with Him we shall e'er reside

In our home in heaven, trumpets sound, announcing day-star bright

Rapture, eternal light! - Chorus

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 15.15.15.6. metre (verses) and 8.8.8.6. metre (chorus). The long lines could be broken down into, e.g. 8.7. instead of 15. The rhythm jars a bit in a couple of places. This was the tune that came to mind when I first read Frogspoetry's poem.

Just like yourself STEVE ~ Miss Froggy (Melissa) is a great Blessing to MPS ~ she has one desire to witness to her Lord & Saviour JESUS ~ and she does ! I commented on her Poem and pointed out that "The Second Coming ~ The Rapture" is a great Truth and a Corner Stone of the Christian Faith ! I find that most unbelievers fail to grasp its significance & reality. As a Scientist I find it very reassuring because the end of the Earth as foretold by the Environmental Prophets of DOOM ~ is not the way the World will end ~ AMEN Christ could return tonight ~ so we must all be prepared ~ our Houses in Order and not too many Loose Ends !
I love the HYMN "Mine Eyes have seen the Glory of the Lord" part of MLK's great Speech "I've been to the Mountain Top ............ ! It is always great to sing in an uninhibited Congregation ~ at a recent Funeral we had "When the Roll is called up Yonder" sung with the same vigour ! Thanks for caring & sharing and raising the Spiritual Bar ~ Yours BRIAN

Thanks Brian. But oh, and I get drawn into it too - it's difficult to sing in an inhibited congregation. Not that I'm very 'happy-clappy' anyway. But a written prayer didn't help much at the start of the service: 'Lord, I become silent...' Wot, right now? We're just about to sing and speak! doh!
I have ridiculous self-consciousness that I'm going to sign too loud, then be embarrassed, in some places. It weighs me down sometimes, bit like a 'dead-weight'. Some don't even attempt to sing. (Well, move then Orchi!). Of course, I expect none of us are too loud in big Anglican churches.

Brian - I mean - I dunno about 'vigour' or 'excitement' in some stiff upper-lip places. We would 'die off' spiritually if there for ever!
