My day started so long ago.
Into this day I was born
From loving parents.
They showed me the way,
The way the day should progress.
Each second of the day
Gave me more to learn,
And learn I did,
Through school and college
Into my working life.
Those seconds turned into minutes
As my work carried me though
The morning and afternoon.
My lover joined me at lunchtime
And we carried on together,
Through the afternoon
Into the early evening and beyond.
Now in the late evening,
I wonder what will happen,
With the remains of the day.

- Comment from author about the poem: I had just finished reading the book "The Remains of the Day" by Kashuo Ishiguro and these words came to me. The music needs no introduction as to why I have added it to these words.

A fine write and clip Gold. Our days started ages ago - before 1066 at least!
A very long time before that.
Andy,
The best seven minutes of my morning!🎼
A wonderful write with a great question!
What will happen “With the remains of the day”?
The answer for me is...
I will learn more and “carry on”!
Have a beautiful day!
~Laura~
Thank you Laura, carrying on and learning is vital for us moving forward.
Great write. Hope your day is too.
Thank you Heartwriter, May yours also be great, mine are as soon as I get out of bed in the morning.
Today and every day - enjoyed this Andy.
Thank you Michael, glad you liked it.
Another reminder of how we must learn to live again in the fields of everyday. lovely writing, Goldfinch.
Thank you Kevin, much appreciated.
In GOD's sight ~ My Life
And Your Life is but a Day
SO ~ Boast not thyself of tomorrow
Cos that belongs to someone else !
I have only had EIGHT hours
of my 24 so far ~ so 16 hours
Remain(s) of My Day !
I love the concept in this elegant ode ~ it reminded me of the transience of life and the need to CARPE DIEM ~ which is echoed in several recent Poems. Theresa May grasped the DAY today and all of us REMAINERS should back her on this ~ PRAY FOR HER and write to our MP encouraging them to back her !
Loved the Moonlight the most played on CLASSIC FM ! It is deceptively easy and very haunting ~ It is the only piece of CLASSIC MUSIC that I ever mastered and I still play it on available PIANOS in Airports and other Public Places ! For some people it is the only classic they have heard ! Your contributions always "stimulate" us ~ keep caring & sharing ~ BRIAN
Thank you Brian, each day is special not matter how long that day is and I am well into evening in mine.
