WHEN THE LIONS ROAR ~ THE LIONS SCORE

We have FAITH in our MANAGER ~ Gareth Southgate

We have  rewarded HOPE in our CAPTAIN ~ Harry Kane

We have LOVE & RESPECT within our TEAM & SUPPORTERS

 

In the 21st CENTURY ~ Great Britain has succeeded

Not only in FOOTBALL but in ALL SPORTING ACTIVITIES

Track & Field in successive Olympic Games

Cycling ~ Swimming & Diving ~ Tennis ~ Rugby etc !

 

WE have had spectacular successes but it is in ATTITUDE

That we have scored ~ Sportsmanship ~ it matters not

If we WIN or DRAW or LOSE ~ But how we play the GAME

In the WORLD CUP we have shown FAITH ~ HOPE ~ LOVE !

 

For ENGLAND ~ representing GREAT BRITAIN ~ reaching

The SEMI-FINAL against CROATIA is a reward in itself !

We Honour Mother RUSSIA for being perfect hosts

And express our Sympathy that She missed the Final Four !

 

Now remaineth these FOUR ~ ENGLAND ~ CROATIA

BELGIUM & FRANCE ~ All very honourable TEAMS

We wish them all well ~ but we are  all PATRIOTIC

So in our HEARTS ~ The Greatest of these is ENGLAND !

    It was on the tele yesterday and I did wake up and saw the first goal before Jazz Record Requests came on the radio, I alway listen to that while I prepare the evening meal.

    VERY DROLL ~ ANDY ~ You are a Master of the understatement ! 32 million watched the QUARTERS (Sweden is one of my favourite Countries !) more will watch he SEMIS on Wednesday and if we make the FINAL (as we did in 1066 !) then 65 million will watch ! Get your ENGLAND flag out of the attic and WAVE it to celebrate ENGLISH ~ SPORTSMANSHIP ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN

      I remember the 1066 final - Orchidee was linesman.
      Not really a sportsman myself but do like a bit of footie so I was sure one of the 32million.

        Thanks HEART ~ For the ENGLISH the WORLD SOCCER CUP (every four years) is a big occasion and we do our best to qualify. It is our National Sport played by most BOYS (even I have medals for Footy !) and an increasing number of LADIES ! Pleased you love the UK ~ next time you are over try to visit a PREMIER FOOTBALL Match ~ a day to remember ! BRIAN

It is very cathartic and the whole of the UK is enjoying England's sucess and it takes our minds off BREXIT & Trumps visit next week !             Thanks SOPHIE pleased you grasped the intention in my Poem. The BOYS have worked so so hard to both be GENTLEMEN on and off the PITCH ~ also to "Bring it (the World Cup) HOME again as in 1966 long before I was born.
