MEMORIES OF WHAT WILL BE

MEMORIES OF WHAT WILL BE

The dew-beads wait like clinging tears

until the hour of memories

when pipe-drips form and gently fall

reflecting sparkling rainbow hues

displacing rippling symmetry

upon the glittering water’s guise.

Stream-hovering dragonflies on wing

where shadowed ferns sleeve sleeping banks

and purling currents ruffle stones

time-smoothed by water’s flow.

A place where shadows fall ahead

with memories of what will be.

Beautiful write Michael, I could see the drops and the stream.

Lovely write Michael. Got any memories of Miss Berles?!

    • Michael Edwards

I have indeed - I recall her getting up to no good with Miss Ann Tonym. Left us all speechless.

      • orchidee

Did you see Sy (Symon) Nonym too - Ann's brother? He changed his surname slightly from 'Tonym' (best I could do. lol)

Not wishing to predicate on the subject - I won't modify that phrase about Ann Tonym - clause I won't,

Ah yes those memories of what will be. BBC and Dr Who have a lot to answer for. E='MC5', a bunch of musicians from Michigan. Not quite my cup of tea but this 1969 recording is a bit like a glance into what became the future of music:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvJGQ_piwI0
          Not recommended listening.

          • Michael Edwards

Thanks dusk - must listen to the not-recommended music sometime in the future - after all I can't listen to it in the past 🙂

INTERESTING POEM MIKE ~ The title is a deja vu enigma ~ the poem is a "que sera sera" gem ~ Thanks for redonning your "Mantle of Seriousness" Love the picture many such inviting "gates" in the Essex Villages ! Thanks BRIAN ~ Please visit my ROSE GARDEN.

Tis indeed enigmatic - in fact it leaves me a little puzzled - I love to set the reader guessing.

            • orchidee

What with 'to be or not to be' and 'que sera sera', I dunno if I'm coming or going!' lol.

Do you wear a baseball cap back to front? Personally I wouldn't wear one on principle - only on my head !!

                Michael,

Your great sketch reminds me of my home in Italy!
                The poem is intriguing!
                “Time-smoothed by water’s flow.”
This line makes me think of getting older in a less stressful manner!

The gentle polishing of the stones by the gurgling waters - well as I get older I gurgle but not sure about the polish lol 🙂
                  Thanks Laura
