On a leaf ~ on a leaf ~ a leaf
casts swaying paler green shadows
and suddenly ~ the Tree Frog sings !
The Sun shines on the garden moss
and in the trees a Deer appears
we shout with JOY ~ it disappears !
Hushed are the Pines on the lake shore
and above them the the Mountain rises
to join Sky ~ seamless tapestry !
Beautiful Lady ~ rolls her blind
She sits in the stillness ~ crying
weeps for the sadness ~ in her Heart !

Thanks HEART ~ I am pleased you saw BEAUTY in it ~ thanks for saving it as a FAVOURITE. In Japanese & Chinese poetry there are three levels of BEAUTY. Because the script is written with BRUSHES and often embellished with pictures of flowers ~ blossom ~ birds etc (just as I have added Mount Fuji (Japan) to illustrate OCTAKU No. 3 and written it in Sky Blue italic) there is a VISUAL beauty in Oriental poetry even before you read it. Because it is an ORAL tradition there is also a beauty in the SOUND of the Poem when it is recited. Because I am a Performance Poet ~ "sound" in a Poetry Circle is very important ! There is also a MENTAL BEAUTY in the MEANING of the poem etc. There is always more to Poetry than meets the EYE or EAR. Thanks for your appreciation ~ Yours BRIAN (UK)
