He stands in the Choir
With his voice so loud,
Thinks he can sing bass
but he hasn’t a clue,
He sings the tune,
Wouldn’t know a bass note
If it bit him on the bum.
If it’s a song he doesn’t like
He doesn’t sing at all,
That’s when the Choir sounds better!
He only thinks of himself,
No care for others,
So thick skinned
That he cannot be hurt,
But can use his emotion
To pull others down
So they feel sorry for him.
It is all a farce
To make himself accepted,
But most now know
That he is only after something,
Something, anything,
For his own satisfaction.
Has no feeling for the choir,
But needs to fuel his greed,
And prey upon others.

- Comment from author about the poem: The poem is to get something off my chest about a man in the choir for which I was a founder member. The clip is to give you a smile on a Sunday Morning.

Sadly we all know, or have known, someone like this - fine write Andy.
Thank you Michael, yes we probably do know people like this
And thanks for the Les Dawson clip - will there ever be comedians of his ilk again?
No I don't think so, the idea of being funny has changed considerably in our life time.
Thanks for showcasing LES DAWSON ~ along with KEN DODD ~ TOMMY COOPER ~ MORCOMBE (and WISE) ~ VICTORIA WOOD ~ JULIE WALTERS the last of the GREAT BRITISH Comedians (and those who graced the Music Halls before them) honed in the Agony & Ecstasy of the 20th Century. A Dead & Dying breed we shall never see their likes again. I have been in several Choirs as a BARITONE / BASS in my time. Praise GOD there were always those PRAYED but also alas a few who PREYED ~ c'est toujours la vie ! Loved the pome ! Today ANGELA has shared HOW GREAT THOU ART ~ in MAORI ~ beautiful please check ! Have a Blessed Sunday ~ Yours BRIAN
Thanks Brian, most are OK in the choir generally but you get the odd one or too who are not so good.
Yep. I myself am familiar with the character. I know one well. Great write.
I think most of us are, thank you Heartwriter.
Well expressed and happy it's now of your chest!
Thanks for that dan, we all need a rant sometimes.
what can I say about
this one?
Your read it, that is more than enough onepauly.
I suppose he's staying too? One choir got a bit like the Mafia - or some of them did. 'Do what we say, sing what we want, or else....' The whole thing has gone now. Some bloke with a guitar replaced him, I heard. There he was every week, like clockwork, like it or not...! (Cries of 'Arrgghhh, not again'!).Now he's gone too.
Yes, unfortunately he is. Sometimes I feel I want to hit him but I would need to get in the queue.
I suppose he's not timid. Some may not sing too loudly in a small congregation, for fear of being embarrassed and louder than anyone else. Me too, though there's no 'danger' of me being too loud. But in big places, one would need to be REALLY loud to be above everyone else.
I wonder if the congregation notice? Maybe a suggestions box could bring some refreshing hints upon creating a little more joy when the angels sing.
This must be so annoying. I'd have started an resistence movement myself and got him ousted.
Les, remains my favourite comic, thank you for the fun video.
There are plans afoot to trey and do something. We have got him moved to the end of the basses to start with.
lol,i can relate to this
Thank you Ron, these people get everywhere.
