Time;
Chasing us throughout our lives;
It is always with us!
The need to get things done,
On time!
Must be on time!
Need to get there!
Quick!
Must run!
Got to go!
To where?
And why?
Never enough time!
Time is moving on!
Must catch up!
Time; the predator.
Looking back on my life, towards the end of my span on this world,
I look upon time from a different point of view.
Those moments in my life where time doesn’t exist.
That first kiss as a boy with my first girlfriend,
So innocent and so cherished, where did that moment go?
It still seems but a moment since I met my love,
Still with me after so many joyful years, still together
Enjoying our time with each other, no need to rush now,
Tomorrow will do; or the day after.
The time spent strolling along My River,
No haste, time to get to know myself.
Time with our children and grandchildren,
So valuable, give them my time,
I have plenty to spare, for the important things,
Time will end for me before long
But it is a long way off.
Time is an experience to be cherished.
Time; my companion.

A fine write Gold. I still rush sometimes, but I'm 'getting on a bit' now too! I don't bother so much about being driven, ambitious, etc. Not that I was a dynamo to begin with anyway!
Also the song : 'We have all the time in the world'. Louis Armstrong?
Meanwhile - I wish I took time in 1066. I rushed, and said to Harold 'Look up, Sire', and he did. It's not a fable! lol.
Rushing is not the way, slow and steady is the way.
It sure is precious.
Although time is a strange thing quantum physics is showing us 'proff' it always exists the past, present and future nothing stops it all last forever.
It is always there we just need to appreciate it. Thanks Dan.
I hope the rest of your time is as precious as you are. Such a sweet write dear sir!
Thank you so much Heartwriter for you kind humbling words.
Great write again and stirring up my thoughts.
We're such rational beings, we like to see feel touch smell hear things so we can easily understand them. They're tangible. But time as you suggest cant be seen touched smelled etc, ... it's here and no sooner than it arrives a piece of it is gone ... that's worse than thoughts, at least we get to remember those.
But old buggers like us have learned to capture times treasures before they fade with our failing memory facility. By writing about things happening to us today, we can recall them in the years ahead... works for me, so far, anyway.
Yes us old buggers can make each moment count and we now NEED to write them down as with each new piece of knowledge that we acquire an older piece falls off the other end of our memory.
What a great thought provoking write - the older you get the more you appreciate it.
Thank you Michael, yes that is certainly true, each moment in our lives as we get older is so very precious.
HI ANDY ~ Thanks for showcasing ELLA ~ Best Blues Singer ever ans SUMMERTIME is perfect for her unique voice.
Time is a PARADOX because each of the 7.6 billion people on the Planet ~ get a pristine gift each night / day of 24 precious hours ! To say we've no time is ridiculous ~ we've all got plenty of TIME ~ It's how we use it that makes all the difference. I value each hour and uses my time wisely as does Angela ! Life expectancy in the UK is now 88 for Ladies and 85 for Men. Si I've got another 50 Years (time to learn WELSH) and ANGELA nearly another 60 !
Thanks for sharing ~ Yours BRIAN & ANGELA. Love your attitude towards TIME ~ CARPE DIEM ~ HALLELUJAH !
Ella is NOT a blues singer, she is an out and out jazz singer. She does sing blues and melodic songs sometimes but listen to this https://youtu.be/iR1__k-BxhY and tell me that it is blues.
I have been listening to Ella for over sixty years and have practically all her albums. As far as I am concerned she could sing a telephone directory and it would still be one of the best things you could ever hear. (Sorry for the rant but Ella is a special JAZZ singer to me).
Thanks for the comment on the time, time gets more precious the older you get as Michael and I are aware.
"They say that time is the fire in which we burn"
When you're young it does feel as though time is stalking you. You don't really begin appreciating things until you get older. Thanks for the awesome poem.
Thank you nicoli, most kind. Yes you certainly appreciate more in time as age creeps up on you.
