Good one Andy, well put together as usual.
Just a little worried about the portrayal of the woman waiting to be acted upon.
Could you do a companion piece from the male\'s POV, please?

Very true. Okay, I used a bit of poetic license but basically wrote this about a close friend who after years on her own finally plucked up the courage to go on a blind date. She is now in a happy long term relationship as a result.

Live the dream ???
Goldfinch60 said:

Yes the Brexit dream was a con, so much misery since it happened. I too feel sorry for those who have had their retirement dreams shattered because of Brexit.

Live the dream ???
Andy Hunter said:

Hence the final line, consequences.
One advantage of having bugger all is that you have very little financially to lose. Still can\'t help feeling sorry for some who innocently just wanted to spend their retirement in the sun.

Welcome home from the patriotic home guard of true Brits and the illegal immigrants among us.
You will no longer be a foreigner in a foreign land once home.

Best Mans\' Speech
Doggerel Dave said:

Do they still have those things, Andy - weddings with bride in white, three tier cakes, groom and best man?
I remember them a little from when I was a kid and umpteen aunts and uncles did it.... The last wedding I attended was in the sixties when a couple who had been living together for years wanted an excuse for a big party - wasn\'t quite like the regular thing, though.
So where have I been living - in a cave? That\'s for me to know....

OK, you win. This is full of every trite tope of warnings and advice for the groom... but it is so cleverly meshed and wittily crafted, it is priceless! These old ball and chain images are so sexist... but I am ashamed to say laughed all the way.

I\'m not sure, you\'ll relate or enjoy, but below is a link

a clever twist
with some 6ft-deep - hidden, acute commentary to top-it-of as well, I see..
a fun read
with deftly cringe-tiptoeing: innuendo - aplenty, lol

COUNTER SPY (The Death Of James Bond)
Doggerel Dave said:

You just can not do that Andy - what is my favourite vegetable going to say? I think you are more likely to be assassinated than Bond ever will. Do you realise how powerful those Hollywood moguls are?
You have made the sacrifice for a good write though.

Still pondering how \"bank holiday\" snuck into our poetical lexicon! Thank goodness bankers don\'t wanna work every single day! Thanks for the ride!

Neatly done Andy. It matters little whether it is called meditation or daydreaming, although it is not quite either, I do it anyway and it is great!
