Another one that would’ve been transported to the penal colony, back in the day. β€œAlms. Alms. Spare me a piece of bread. Spare me your mercy.”

Made me think this one because it is not to much to just want an orange, but then it is the way you go about that and they way it is received. Social as well as moral issues made an interesting and enjoyable read.

There may be a meta metaphor here. Poverty asks for justice of which there is none and comes up empty handed. The only escape in a power driven world is death the only true justice dispensed to all. How\'s that for a cynic\'s review? Good write my friend

A gift from the heart is a true gift, it is not giving thinking how it will be received, so sometime we can have regrets after but not at the time of giving. An interesting write that makes you have a think, enjoyed reading.

Another poem that makes one ponder. One should never give a gift that one regrets. A gift is from the heart freely given with no regret regardless of what is done with it anything else is but a ransom. A wonderful write nicely worded and structured

Child or adult we often do foolish things that have bad results. Things we never intended but in our ignorance or neglect we are responsible and have to live with it. A wonderfully written piece set up well and well told with a sinking feeling at the end.

A very touching and sad read, reminding me of events we have had here over the years very much like this.

We have our own version in the West Moreton region, the Walloon sisters who both drowned in their backyard dam. So sad. πŸ•Š

Some really great lines in this poem \"God is ill and his silence is a cage\" is one that evokes a great deal of thought. Very nicely done David.

Beautiful verse and near rhyme in a somewhat classical form that carries the reader through this world to the beyond. It floats effortlessly as a cloud through the sky. It leaves behind an etherial feel.

A most beautiful tribute and poem to a land. It rouses the heart with pride and calls for a sense of nationalism. Much to be proud of here in both the land and the poem full of images and history.

A somber poem. I am unsure what WAU 1982 represents, but it leaves me with a heavy heart. Some fine poetic lines contained in the stanzas, and the final line ends on a more optimistic note. The sun in the sky, is far better than a sunken sun. Fine poetry David.

I might well be wrong, i took this to about the civil war in Sudan (The Title), which was then followed by another war, apoligies if i am. It is still a very well crafted piece of writing, painting many a haunting image.
