When I was young I was certain of so many things now that I am old I am certain of nothing. A most fun poem written in a form that begs the reader to keep on reading reveling its message little by little. So well constructed

Very powerful words Davis and so true, the god of the ancient book is supposed to save us but he/she is never there when needed, or there at all.

I found this a haunting and emotional piece of poetry, sadly we seem to live a world where our aim is to destroy all beauty. Well written read

Beauty indeed is short lived. I’ve heard that being said often enough as a child and still have to arrive at its full knowledge.

I am assuming this is based on a true story and a horrific one at that in so many ways. To think what was an accident by a baby boy can lead to all that happening, is very frighting and i suppose just shows how easily things can get out of hand.

Some Leaves do and some Leaves don’t.

The parallel between the leaves and human existence is particularly striking! And the emergence of new green shoots at the end of the poem offers a hopeful resolution, that could remind it\'s reader that life continues despite the cycles of death and renewal. Thanks for sharing!

The cycle of life put in poetic verse with personification added to spice it up. Written from the second person it makes for a great metaphor as well.

Fine words David. We went for a walk along My River the other day and the leaves were on the ground but some of the trees had new buds on them.

Holocaust narratives are both harrowing and cleansing. I am glad that there is room for this in poetry as there seem to be few things that can be done for something vital in humanity\'s history as it grows further away from our consciousness with each passing year. Thanks for sharing.

For me a very emotional and touching piece that is very close to my heart, relating to the horrific, cold, dark and savage times of our past. Written with care and feeling for a subject that is still a nightmare for many.

A woven contrast of the legacies of the \'good\' the \'nice\' and the \'meek.\' I also liked the hope and promise of the \'emerald sea.\' Finally there is something to take away with the insight of kindness and humility that brings an openness and leniency in others towards us.

Good, nice, meek. The sermon on the mount comes to mind and he did walk on water. I like the opening statement that the good don\'t die at all then the follow up that it is the nice that die young while the meek inherit nothing. So true it is. Very nicely worded David

Oh beauty! I didn’t know what they were called. Had them to brighten the narrow patio while we lived overseas for half a dozen years. And now all the memories come flooding back! What I do understand is how the Gazanias and our potted garden distracted me from homesickness. Your latest offering has struck a sentimental chord!

Silly, white parrot… must be a cockatoo. The mirroring effect is staying in my afterthought! Having been on such walks myself…at least there is no white flag of surrender to be had save a squawking bird. In an atypical way that puts things into perspective.
