This seems a poem of it is what it is. So many times that things are not what one wants but one has no choice in the matter. Well written

Parental responsibility to a point since the child came because of you, out of you, of you and you set the pattern they learned by and even latter controlled their friends or maybe should have. Is this child not a piece of you in miniature? I hear the pain in this poem of not feeling accepted or even wanted.

A graphic metaphor of control for the wrong purpose. All children need control until they can learn to take it themselves in a responsible manner but it should be based on the well being of the individual as well as the group. Nicely written

A beautiful poem of the positive atributes of a child and one that is given the burdens of an adult when a child and called a child when they become an adult a mixed and paradoxical combination. Well written

Self dependence is the safest and most sure way of carrying on in this life. It is good advice and clearly written.

And so, it struggled, ill-remembered
yet grows sustained by others,
it exists even in adversity
but not to the whim of shifting shadows.

Antra, this really moved me. There is such a strong sense of self-worth running through the poem. I love that it never argues for becoming less…it argues for embracing exactly what you are. Powerful write, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

Antra, what a powerful metaphor. The contrast between the forgotten seed and the carefully tended flower carries the emotional weight of the poem beautifully. I especially love the ending…how the very independence forged through neglect is later misread as arrogance. That final turn lands with real force. Great job on this, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

Arrogance is nothing more than the speaker feeling envy. Such a lovely poem parable with the metaphor giving a lesson. Seed personified is an example of one pulling themselves up by their bootstraps and being belittled for it envied for it and labeled. Very nicely done.

Deeply philosophical this poem gives various examples of why not to conform to others views and desires. All put in a metaphor of water from ocean to river to glass and drop. Nicely done and most poetic

It sounds like you have already begun to build this home not with wood or stone or brick but with thoughts, habits, values, forming walls and a roof of identity setting the boundaries of where others end and you begin. Powerful wording in this poem and applicable to all readers but not forced upon them by being set in the first person offered as an example not a mandate. Very nicely done
