Heart or Mind.

I love question poems because it leaves it up to the reader and thereby decreases resistance. The question frees the mind to think and choose. Here the question between heart and mind is the age old split between logic and emotion, male and female in traditional thought and as has been thought in old myth the perfect god is a hermaphrodite that shares both qualities. One without the other is hard to imagine Even Star Trek\'s Spock had a little feeling. Very nicely written this poem dichotomized into two three line stanzas

I am not fan of the death penalty. It gives the power to kill/murder to the government, and it brings no justice. It just creates more victims as I see it. This poem reminds me of that because it is exposes how easy it is for a terrible accident, in essence, can wind up getting blown up into something it was not. Scary, but happens all the time. Well done, my friend. πΉπ

A sad but true tale. In the court of public opinion we can be falsely accused and even sentenced without the facts. Worse yet, we can be burned more than once. Nicely done, Tobani.

A poem of injustice in an unjust world where little makes sense but all things lead to death. In a random world coincidence happens. No one wants to believe that it is random and everyone wants to think it should be fair. A good story Tobani. Nicely done

Oh! The ecstasy of freedom, that inherent enthusiasm which grasps the day by its horns and flies. Alas, such charged moments and joys melt like Icarus\' wings in the blazing eye of heaven, is it? Wonderfully rendered with a heartening enthusiasm and excellent imagery. Thank you so very much for sharing. If only it had never dissipated.

Understood. I have been there. You think you\'ve finally figured things out, you\'ve \"healed\", \"moved past\", know how to cope, etc. Yet, you are not sure if you can really believe it has happened and, as your note points us to, it is indeed short lived. That has been my experience too. And yes, it is good while it lasts. For sure. Well done on this, my friend. So relatable. πΉπ

Tobani, I certainly hope that it is real. What a wonderful write to inspire, encourage, and re-instill hope. The light that shines from these words will brighten the darkest days for those who read it. Thank you for sharing.

A turn from the dark to the light is felt in this poem. It is uplifting and hopeful. Good rhyme as well punctuates this piece. On a sea of waves sometimes we are in a trough and at others on a crest as the swells of life come and go. Enjoyed it

Yes, but at least multiple souls won\'t damn you like they do me: \"Jenny\'s time.\" When I can never seem to be anywhere except apparently on my own schedule, having fifty thousand things to do before I go anywhere. Oh yes, and dragging fifty thousand bags, leather totes and canvas, and Starbucks cold cups by the dozen along with me so they question me. Being your ownself is fun, but a damning proposition. Or so it seems to me; and yet I\'m too happy to be myself. But enough of that. Beautifully rendered with such a winsome poignancy and excellent imagery. Thank you so much for sharing.

So true, my friend! So very true! Individually we are all unique and that is beautiful. When we collectively group together we give up some of that uniqueness for conformity. I, myself, have never been one to conform, even when I\'ve had to comply. Not in my nature. I think people avoid that because, from personal experience, not conforming comes at a social and sometimes even a vocational/financial cost. Still, being ME is priceless as I see it. So, I\'ve paid the cost! π€£ Ultimately you are right, though, if you constantly live life worrying about what others think and conforming to their standards, you really are existing...not living. I choose LIFE over EXISTENCE. Well done, my friend. πΉπ
