Both your poem and your author note speaks to me. Life is about learning. Not everything goes to plan, but we grow stronger where we break. Losing people we live is hard. Grief takes time, it dies eventually soften. Thank you for scaring your words with us.

If they do see this, best friends will understand and give you a hug! Thank you for sharing! It\'s a wonderful piece and it is better to get that out than keep it in, imho! That\'s why I love poetry! I have felt similarly and so I very much appreciate your courage in sharing it, Aaliyah! Well done. 🌹👏 And praying for happiness for you too! ❤️

Life Options

My comments on the poem “Life options” by AaliyahC
“Nobody means anything.
The world is a lie and life is cruel…” Life is just make-believe. Perhaps we have no choice, after all. We have to create a world that we can handle, a world in which we can preserve our sanity.
“The worlds course is set….” Our life has been set out for us. Everything happens at the ordained moment. It is not coincidence.
“Play this game called life….” Life is a game of chance, much like a card game. Some have many jokers, some few of them and some none at all. The last ones have to slug it along.
“Only requirements are you can’t choose….” To be realistic, we have hardly any choices. We have to accept what happens to us. How often do we succeed in fighting off the obstacles, disasters, etc ?
“Some have been forced to be born….” ALL of us have been forced to be born. You being born is a choice for others who wield power over us : they could have terminated us. In a literal sense, when the time comes for you to exit, you are FORCED out.
“not everyone is meant to survive.” Even the length of our individual lives is something pre-ordained. Your poem is not depressing. It just lays out the facts. We have to look at the bright sides often if we want to stay sane. As if dangers were not enough, men do everything to exterminate themselves. Soman Ragavan. 25 November, 2024.

I’m High.
Tristan Robert Lange said:
Excellent poem, Aliyah. I’ll say this, at least your not chasing the bottle. Still, I know the feeling of trying to numb the pain, which never seems to ultimately work without “chasing the high”. You captured this well in your poem. 🌹👏

I can see my reflection in this poem. Sigh, I’m still grateful I have the ability to see a reflection that way I can improve or change the way the image appears. Great poem… don’t be to hard on yourself
