My comments on the poem “Death asked life”
Some shopkeepers are known to be dishonest. Yet, even if customers know that this is so, they keep going to that dishonest guy and not to one who is honest but appears unfriendly. They know they are getting cheated, but they still go to that cheating fellow. What is the explanation for this ? The irrationality of people.
“The man who has not a smiling face should not open a shop.” -- (Ed) T. B. Krishnaswami : “TEN TAMIL ETHICS.” Madras, India : The South India Saiva Sidhanta Works Publishing Society, 1937. Full acknowledgements are made to the authors, publishers and rights-holders.
It’s the face that counts, by the look of it. If you have an unfriendly face but are still honest, people might avoid your business… They will knowingly go and get ripped off by that smiling crook… It’s irrational, but it still goes that way… Soman Ragavan. 26 November, 2024

Andy, this is a deep drop of wisdom put into a short poem. And you were right it is not death that I hate but the pain that may come with it. I love this poem.

This is quite a good look at a spiritual experience. We are not robots we have 5 senses. If you put 5 senses together there appears a sixth sense. Great poem compadre

Very refreshing poem. It filled my mind and heart with joy, too. Sometimes music can carry one away to an idyllic place. Loved your poem. - Phil A.

I love the style and how it sits “on the page!” The atmosphere is like tendrils of smoke rising from a bar with just the right amount of lighting, ambient poetry!

I can’t help thinking what an incredibly releasing feeling that might be. To lose the heavy weight and feel lighter. You took me there Andy. Great writing.

Did it mention \'numinous\', as in a book I\'m reading, some of which goes over my head - very intellectual it is.

Good write, Andy. Horses know where they are going. They can see for miles, (in the dark) hear and smell forever. A bale of hay, fresh water, people talking, other horses. You sleep in the saddle and they will wind up in one of those places. Horses and stables are one event.
