To expand a little on Soren’s commentary (above) all symbols change or get misappropriated over time. In Oz there’s banner, the Eureka Flag which was a symbol of worker’s resistance at the time of the Eureka Stockade, 1854, Ballarat, Victoria. Today used by right wing racist groups as a symbol of their identity.
Similarly, the rainbow in the Sixties and Seventies together with the slogan ‘Give Peace a Chance’ was very current then. Since it as been appropriated by the LGBTQ..etc (and good luck to them) and there’s also perhaps here a connection with the pink shirt…

How powerful a color is ingrained into one\'s culture. There was a time that colors were reversed in what was appropriate for boys and girls pink for boys and blue for girls. A fun read my friend
