She went as quiet as the Dew
From an Accustomed flower.
Not like the Dew, did she return
At the Accustomed hour!
She dropt as softly as a star
From out my summer's Eve—
Less skillful than Le Verriere
It's sorer to believe!

Comments1Wow, this poem really gets to the heart. I feel it's about a loss or a departure, and the sadness that comes with it. It's amazing how the writer compares a person to nature, like the dew and a star. Straight up feels and emotion here. Kind of left me feeling sorrowful, but in a good way? If that makes any sense. Sometimes it's tough believing that loss can feel so immense. This poem expresses that beautifully. It just hits different, ya know.
