YOU ARE IN CONTROL ~ YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT ~ SONNET
LIKE so many substances ~ Fats & Carbs
And Proteins ~ we need some SODIUM CHLORIDE
In our DIET ! Because its constantly
Excreted in our urine. Table Salt
Dissolves in cold water ~ so its dispersed
Round our bodies inside our Blood Stream !
Recommended max daily intake for:
Adults Six Grams ~ Children (5 - 11) Four Grams
What are the effects of EXCESS SODIUM ?
Hypertension (high blood pressure) leads to .....
Strokes & Heart Attacks ~ Artery Disease
Obesity and Kidney Stones ~ increased
Night urination ~ Heart failure ~ Greater
Cancer risk ~ STOP Table Salt ~ USE LOSALT*
*LOSALT ~ 67% POTASSIUM CHLORIDE ~ 33% SODIUM CHLORIDE
Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ BRIAN & ANGELA 😎 🧡
ANGELA & I have both studied ~ Human Biology ~ Nutrition
and Healthy Living ! Most people are aware that too much
Salt ~ Saturated Fat & Alcohol is bad for you. But dont always
know WHY and what the side effects are. We decided to write
a Collaborative Poem to encourage you all to limit you SALT
(SODIUM CHLORIDE) intake. A FAST FOOD MEAL or a 3 course
Restaurant Meal can contain 4 grams of Salt and there is always
Salt on the table (except in Japanese Restaurants ~ Flood always
plerfect sleason when leave klitchen ~ no need extra sleason !)
Canned foods are often high in Salt (it is a preservative). Our
diets are often low in Potassium ~ so we need our Five a Day.
Angela & I have switched to LOSALT (67% potassium chloride &
33% sodium chloride) for cooking and as Table Salt. This way
we consume less SODIUM & more POTASSIUM. This helps to
maintain a correct SODIUM / POTASSIUM BALANCE in our bodies
Remember ~ A healthy Diet & Good exercise
Makes a MAN Healthy ~ Wealthy and Wise !
Love to All ~ BRIAN & ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

A fine write B&A. Some crisps taste like a bag of salt! I only eat the blue salt bag from Salt & Shake crisps. I throw away the salt inside it. Hmm, wondered why it tasted nasty! lol.
THANKS UNCLE STEVE ~ You make a good point. We are conditioned from being very young to enjoy the zest of salt. In the north we always sprinkled salt on first and THEN tasted it. In Liverpool ~ reared on Fish Chips & Mushy Peas ~ I guess we had 10g of salt at least. My mother used to drink a glass of salt water and died @ 95 ! A balanced DIET is a healthy DIET ~ Blessings & Love ~ BRIAN & ANGELA 😎 🧡 Please read our additional comment at the end of the poem ~ B & A
Although the somewhat pompous and arrogant celebrity chefs seem to think they know just how much seasoning is required the truth is we all have different tastes which they fail to recognise - in my case I am used to a small salt intake and anything beyond that tastes - well - too salty. We have to train our taste buds
Oooo UNCLE MIKE : You always strike us as a fit & virile MAN : Low salt is your secret. Please read our added comment : OK Blessings & Love BRIAN & ANGELA 😎 🧡
As a nurse, I agree with you on this completely! (As a human being, I do indulge in mcd's fries sparingly, sadly) But I don't add salt to food that I cook. Never use table salt, there is enough salt in our diets to sustain us!
HOLA CRIS ~ Gracias por tu commento ! Generally we find most Nurses & Medics have a good understanding of HEALTHY LIVING ~ because so many of their patients are OBESE sedentary & immobile. There is now much more information on Packaging and increasingly in Restaurants ! BUT we all love a BIG MAC ~ so so tasty ~ Naughty but Nice ! Every Blessings Abrazos y Besos ~ Tus HERMANOS ~ BRIAN y ANGELA 😎 🧡
All our food is home cooked, we may have fish and chips from the local chippie four times a year, so our salt intake is managed al the time.
Yes indeed UNCLE ANDY ~ We are pleased to hear that: You are Masters of your own Dietries ! F & C from the local Chippie is often drenched with NaCl and CH3COOH whether you want them or not ! We control our weight ~ get lots of exercise an enjoy a Healthy Diet wherever we happen to be. Ruth & Angela are both very Spiritual Ladies and support each other in Healthy Living. Wonderfully informative "You are what you eat" Sonnet.
It's so good of you to give your readers some healthy advice. I have high blood pressure and people say sea salt doesn't have the same effect on the human body as table salt. Yet, I find it, too, raises my blood pressure.
Now I'm using the pink Himalayan salt, but I doubt this is any good for those with high blood pressure either.
Thanks for sharing this great write.
Thanks TAMARA ~ These fancy (and expensive !) types of SALT are really a CON because they are 100% sodium chloride ! What you really NEED is LOSALT which is only 33% Sodium Chloride and 67% Potassium Chloride. Just use it as Table Salt it also provides Potassium which is essential in our diet. Thanks for your interest ~ Blessings BRIAN & ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thank you. I found they sell it at Walmart here in the states, but it is pricey, $36.10 for 12.35 oz or 350 g. Our regular salt (same amount) is usually under $1.00 or no more than $2.00 at most.
Here we use Mrs. Dash as a salt substitute, but I'll see if I can find it somewhere else at a less expensive price. 🙂
You mentioned it also provides Potassium which is essential in our diet, but so is Magnesium. People are now being diagnosed with Magnesium deficiency. Even the alkaline water that is sold (like Smart water) and contains the essential electrolytes, does not include Magnesium. Strange!
Thanks TAMARA ~ I guess it is imported ? In the UK it costs about £4 (= $5:50). Chlorophyll contains Magnesium so green veg in our diet are very important. Hard water contains Magnesium & Calcium but not soft water. Many foods contain essential minerals and vitamins so if we have a Balanced Diet (lots of fresh fruit & veggies) we should not need to take supplements ~ unless a medical check shows we have a deficiency of say iron or another essential element ! We feel Americans in our age group (30 - 40) use too many supplements ! People lived for thousands of years WITHOUT supplements ! When food is cooked Minerals can be discarded in cooking water and vitamins destroyed in the cooking processes. If my MUM boiled vegetables she always made us drink the water in which they had been boiled except for potatoes. I still enjoy Vegetable Juice and also Vegetable Soup in which all the vitamins & minerals are all retained !

I like this piece. It is original. Overall, I have a pretty healthy diet. I don't have much of an appetite, all I really drink is mostly water and cranberry juice. I consistently exercise. Still, my doctor said my cholesterol is up. I think it is because I like eating pie (haha).
Stay healthy.
Persistence is key
