A Boy Learns of Love

Accidental Poet

Young and impressionable

As any child can be

When a child learns to smile

‘Tis certainly a pleasure to see

To be worthy of a smile

Would take a special event

A reaction of the brain

Triggered from the heart, it’s sent

And when suddenly a young boy

Sees a pretty girl’s face

He’s on uncharted ground

Taken to a far off place

A place not of physical locale

But that of a euphoric state

Hypnotic attraction takes control

The quickening of heartrate

A never before known emotion

To cause the boy to be so ecstatic

Smiles at sight of her

Unknowingly automatic

This is how it begins

Gifts from stars above

With infectious smiles

A boy learns of love

every time I read one of your poems dedicated and inspired by Sharon Rose, I find my self wondering whether it is the same Sharon Rose I fell for when we met on a school Mediterranean cruise .. She lived in the same Midlands town as me and then moved to the US of A ......................... apart from that confession, I think these words today are really outstanding and a real dedication to the longevity of true love .......... My Sharon's last name was not Rose. The Rose of Sharon is a real name of a rose, and I found the image "The Rose of Sharon" and liked it so much that I use it for all my poetry for Sharon. Before I met my Sharon, she had lived in the mid-west of the USA which is why she has an accent known as a Mid-western drawl. I loved the way she talked. But when she left my hometown, she moved to Los Angeles, California USA. That was in June of 1971. So, I'm guessing the Sharon you knew was a native to your country. And I'm willing to bet that she was every bit as impressive to you as my Sharon has been to me. Great minds think alike, eh? 😉

You epitomized the sensation wonderfully. It's like love bubbles rise in the atmosphere. Great and shrewd poem!

Yes, classic scene from Forever Young! The best was when she stole a glance from her window as he walked off into the night. A clinching moment, where all that effort and nerves received their due.

aah, a "Forever Young" frequent flyer. Yes, one of my favorite scenes too. Actually, the whole movie pulls on my heartstrings because my scenario and Daniel's is so similar in we both haven't seen our loves in over 50 years. But you're right, that scene where she looks out the window and smiles at Nat is what every lovestruck boy wants. Thanks for your comment crypticbard. 😉
