I woke up tired this morning
And it always puzzles me
If I'm tired from lying still all night
What on earth happened in my dreams?
I don't recall any images
Of adventures in my brain
Instead I just feel sort of fuzzy
And ever so slightly drained
I'd like to sleep for an hour more
To get some energy back
But I won't until this afternoon
When I have a power nap
But what has made me feel this way?
Was the Sandman cutting back?
Or was I abducted by alien beings
Who stuffed me in a pillow sack
I'll never know so am left resigned
To feeling tired today
And also feeling mightily cheated
From such a waste of time

Sometimes I wake up tired too ! We need to be refreshed and awake after sleep .. strange isnât it . I feel tired myself
Lots happens clearly in dream state.
Be nice to have some warning lol
You will be pleased to know that I had a great nights sleep last night and am up, wide awake and just can't wait to get out on the croquet lawn this morning!
Andy
Thanks for the empathy GF.
Every time SC.
I know whay you mean, those aliens always leave me knackered after theyve done their stuff to me and the obligatory very sore bottom means I cant readily return to sleep. It's all very distressing. You were very lucky if they only stuffed you in a pillow sack, I got stuffed where it hurts it seems.
Great poem Saxon and (ahem) you got my juices flowing (poetic juices).
Ooooo nasty! You poor poet!
Good write SC.
Dear Sax,
Good Morning! âď¸
Perhaps youâre suffering from âsleep apneaâ.
I hope your âpower napâ will energize you.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful poem.

I can relate to each line Sax -- the final few words say it all for me too - a fine and poetic outcry against waking up tired.
Thanks Fay. Nevermind though. I got a poem of sorts out of it so all good!
Omg thatâs so true .. sleepless nights are some kind of torture . I end up feeling drowsy the next day . But I tell you just 5 mins of meditation before bed has really helped me sleep well. And of course shutting off my phone coz thatâs the root of my problem. Well described saxon â¨
I got a smile from reading this one! You were probably on a tropical island with a beautiful young maiden, having the time of your life in your dream! Pity you can't remember! Good poem though!
Story of my life!
Story of my entire life. Bless you Mr. Crow D:
Thanks Nicholas. It certainly is an inconvenience!
I relate so much. I literally never remember my dreams and whenever I do they feel like little glimpses that I just can't fully grasp. You truly explained it amazingly here, awesome job!
I could say, "Go to bed sooner at night," but I've tried that. What I always find as being odd, my dreams never seem to make sense. Various people with no relation to each other in the same place and time. Very strange, but such is life. đ
I can sleep on a flag pole but often wake upo drowsy so I have empathy - plenty of coffee does the trick but plays havoc with the bladder.
The story of my life too! Exactly like your lines.
Oh dear! Well at least you're not alone haha
