One thing my dad taught me was about accountability.
He said if something belongs to you, take care of it.
If it doesn’t belong to you, respect it as belonging to someone else,
but it’s not your responsibility.
If you make a mess, clean up after yourself
so no one must clean up after you.
If someone else makes a mess, it’s their mess to clean up.
Some people need to learn the meaning of holding yourself accountable.
Thanks dad. ππ

That was very sound and valuable advice, enjoyed the read
Thanks, dad gets all the credit. π
You are very welcome
Funny, methinks your daddy and mine thought very similarly. Excellently rendered with perfect imagery and a fitting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for reading and the comment. π
Love this poem, and to be honest in the world today we need this.
He said if something belongs to you, take care of it.
If it doesnβt belong to you, respect it as belonging to someone else
Mutual respect goes a long way, your dear Dad was a lucky man to share his wisdom with such a wonderful man as you. πΉ
Thanks Teddy, but dad gets all the credit. In the last few years on his life, he was increasingly aware of the downward spiral the world was heading in and internally very distraught about it. He hated watching the news channel every day because all he ever saw was bad news every day. He passed at 95 regretful to leave my sister and I, but he had enough of this world of corrupt politicians and dishonest people. I know he wanted so much more for us, and we wanted him to live out his remaining years peacefully without any regrets. Un fortunately that wasnt able to happen. But I know he is in a better place now and I will be with him again. β€οΈ
Great words of wisdom. I remember my dad saying to me: ' Always hold your head high, maintain your dignity and be proud of who you are.
Thats what every father wants for his children. Thanks Michael for reading and relating. π
Such true words from a wise man AP.
Andy
Thanks Andy. My dad would appreciate your compliment. πΉ
Dear AP, your Dad was a man with much wisdom. He has passed those lessons on to his son. Our politicians could do with taking a leaf out of his book. What a mess we are currently in. Have a lovely day despite the political horrors.
Yes he was Cassie. While I was growing up, dad and I didnt always see eye to eye, but the older I got my vision more and more was seeing his way. Thanks Cassie. Hope your day is wonderful. ππ
