DEJA VU 2 ~ MON CLAIR DE LUNE ~ An Acrostic Sonnet

BRIAN & ANGELA

M ON CLAIR DE LUNE ~ Is My Moonlight

O NE  of my fave Piano Tunes ~ in

N INETEEN O FIVE by Debussy

C ERTAINLY  it's one of his best

L OVED  tunes ~ a haunting melody

A TUNE  that spooks you for ever !

I  WAS  visiting a Stately

R ESIDENCE last year when ~ I HEARD IT

D ISTINCTLY ~ I followed the sound

E NTERED  A locked Room ~ THERE SHE WAS !

L OOKING  just as in my "Painting"

U NUSUAL  Dress and hair style for

N OW ?  I was mesmerised and so

E XCITED !  SHE  vanished ~ BUT NOT THE TUNE !!!

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ Love BRIAN XOX

The Mistress of the House ~ came into the Room ~ she was trembling

We keep this Room locked she sobbed "Did you see Claire ?" she was

my Grandmothers Sister and died at that piano 100 years ago in 1916.

She was only 16 and loved that tune (we could both still hear it) and

her Father was given a copy by Debussy himself.  When i showd he my

sketch she almost fainted !  She showed me an old Daguerrotype photo

which was very similar to my sketch (even including the CAT) ~ SPOOKY

I apologised and said  a Friend of mine will paint a Daguerrotype for you

and it can hang over the piano. That is the Painting I have reproduced

for you with this For you with this Poem. The Mistress of the House loved

it and forgave me for disturbing the DEAD in such a dramatic manner !

The moral of this tale is:  If Pandora's Box or a Door is locked ~ Please

resist the temptation to unlock it !  Spooky Hugs for All ~ BRIAN  XOX

Is this pertaining to the french folk song known as "Au clair de la lune"? Otherwise known as "By the Light of the Moon"?

    • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks NICHOLAS ~ not quite ! I learned "Au Clair de la Lune" in French class at School along with ALLOUETTE ! Clair de Lune (MOONLIGHT) was composed by Debussy between 1890 & 1905 as part of the Suite Bergamasque ! Check it on You Tube. Yours BRIAN

Good write about a wonderful tune. As an aside I saw this performed once by Victor Borge a very good pianist but used his skills in a comedic way. He played Caire de Lune, the lights dimmed, I though that I would hear him complete a piece for the first time ever, he go to the last four bars and fell off his seat. "Sorry" he said "I fell asleep. The theatre just roared with laughter.

Thanks ANDY ~ I knew "Clair de Lune" would tinkle your ivories ~ It is one of my Dad\'s favourites. OMG I love Victor Borg (HE DIED IN 2000 AGE 91) but never saw him in the flesh ~ A wonderful Memory for you ! Yours BRIAN

Enjoyed this and also enjoy Debussy . VB was a great entertainer and used to have me in stitches but saw him on YouTube recently and somehow the magic had gone.

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks for your encouragement MICHAEL A lot of truth in what you say ~ in my opinion the YOU TUBE diminishes ! I have seen KEN DODD in the Flesh and laughed \'til i cried ~ BUT ~ He is too big for YOU TUBE. If its OK with you I am going to use today\'s MICHAEL EDWARDS ABSTRACT to illustrate my POEM tomorrow on MARDI GRAS ! I will of course acknowledge the SOURCE and send £50 to the Foot & Mouth Painters on your behalf ! Yours BRIAN
