Beautiful Bounties

Tune Name and Hymn: All for Jesus

Acts 3 v.1-16 parts

********

Peter and John went to Temple

At the ninth hour*, prayer's call  (*3pm)

There at gate Beautiful men laid

Lame man, and there alms were made

Lame was he from day he was born

Enduring each day, each morn

Seeing Peter, John, asked an alms

Thus his daily need becalms

Peter, John, did upon him look

Yet no alms from them he took

For silver and gold they had none

But had life of Christ the Son

This to him they sure imparted

Bringing true, whole-hearted

In name of Jesus he was healed

Life revealed and not concealed

Then he leaped and stood and walking

Praised God for each gracious thing

Bt faith of Jesus he [was] made sound

Healing grace in Him he found

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8787 metre. let's persevere. It's written that the lame man who was healed was over 40 years of age. That's all he knew, being carried out to be placed at the Temple gate each day to beg, until he was healed by 'the life of Christ the Son'. It's said it only needs a mustard-size seed of faith. Let's not give up after only one prayer.

Miracles do happen, orchidee, and you conveyed that beautifully!

      Thanks Fred.

Very well written. I enjoyed this very much, and I'm not even religious.

I apologize. I was only trying to compliment. I was trying to tell you that, even though it is not subject matter that I tend to gravitate towards, the way you presented it was exceptional.

I don't know if that even made it across. Either way, great job. I'll keep the comments to myself.

It's OK SM. Hope I have not misunderstood you. All comments are welcome. It's just that some 'non-religious' wish to comment on my poems, but are unsure how to, or what to say. More comments please!

            Thanks SM.

Oh woe Santita! I only got comments of woe to report in me own situation. I shall be never be the same again! A real turn for the worse. heehee.

                Wonderful Orchidee!!

                • orchidee

Thanks Christina. Erm, the 'beautiful' thing in this is mainly the name of a gate! Though there's beauty in the story too, though I'm sure it was a very nice gate as well. lol.

A yummy story too - I ate all the chocolate-covered Bountys. The plain choc ones. You can have the plain choc ones - yuk! lol.

Much prefer simple straight forward chocolate - no bits, no currents, no wafers, just chocolate. Not sure what this has to do with the poem but it's still a darn good write Orchi.

Thanks M. I started off the digression by a side-track on Bountys! lol. Coconut can be chokey too.

The Healing Power of JESUS was passed on to the Apostles and is still available in the Church today ~ if we have Faith ~ Amen ! Love the story in your extended Poem ~ We entitle it "The Man who asked for Alms and got Legs" AMEN Love the hymn ~ thanks for caring & sharing ~ BRIAN

'Tis true Brian. though we know some, sadly, say 'all that stuff' has died out now, and it was just to get the church off the ground, so to speak. Oh heehee - alms and legs! The man looked, expecting to receive something from Peter and John - and he sure did!
