A SHELTERED NOOK
It stood there still the lonely cottage
resolute in seasons ravage
levied there at natures will
the lonely cottage stood there still.
The wind was strong the rain beat down
and trekking from the local town
a raucous merry making throng
the rain beat down the wind was strong
A sheltered nook within the storm
inside its walls both dry and warm
they sang until the rafters shook
within the storm a sheltered nook.

A fine write and pic M. I will go and sign there with them then. It looks remote enough, so no one else will hear me singing.
Ahh, a nook's all right, as long it's not nookie - I would swoon! lol. Remember that monstrous Nookie Bear?! Would scare off any child.
I do remember him - never did get it - err the bear that is !! Cheers Orchi
This is so British! Beautiful though, and so well written! Like the painting too!
Wish we had some these nooks here!
Never thought of it that way but you are so right - very British - thanks Fred
Those nooks are special as is the poem and the painting Michael.
Can't beat a good nook - thanks for the comment Andy.
Most fitting words to a most beautiful painting. Certainly a fav Michael.
Indebted to you yet again - thanks AP
Michael, 'tis I who's indebted to you for the privilege of reading and viewing such beautiful work. You're an artist in the truest sense of the word.
Really good Michael the painting is perfect with the poem

So beautiful, both the paint and the poem.
Cheers m&m
IN A SHADY NOOK ~ BY A BABBLING BROOK .............. O yes I remember it well ! Thanks for a perfect symbiosis of Paint 'n Poem. A "swap quatrain" is a perfect structure for such a subject ! Yours BRIAN
A nice nook and a good babble - can't beat it/.
Could have sworn I heard echoes in these three! Must be my imagination. Clever writes, Michael!
Echoes in reverse - cheers Louis
Brilliant form and given a painted location it sings its own invite as I pop this little gem into my favourites - well done again Michael.
Fay - you are too kind - thanks so much.
A safe refuge in the storm. I could imagine the warmth inside. Great write.
