TOO MUCH MUFFIN

Michael Edwards

TOO MUCH MUFFIN

Have you seen the muffin man

The muffin the muffin man,

I know he visits whenever he can

He lives down Drury Lane.

Yes I’ve seen the muffin man,

the muffin man, the muffin man

he pays up front I can’t complain

He lives down Drury Lane.

Have you seen the muffin man

The muffin man, the muffin man,

D’you think he’ll visit you again

He lives down Drury Lane.

Yes I’ve seen the muffin man

The muffin man, the muffin man,

Hot and sweaty he comes when he can

He lives down Drury Lane

Have you seen the muffin man

The muffin man, the muffin man,

Too much muffin can cut lifespan

He lives down Drury Lane.

Yes I’ve seen the muffin man

The muffin man, the muffin man

He died last night beneath the fan

He's now in Church Yard Lane.

You keep on surprising me with your humor, Michael. And your writing!
    Love the 'Muffin Man'.

Just made me smile when this idea came to me. Back in the 50s we had a puppet on children's TV - it was about a mule called Muffin and the programme was called 'Muffin the Mule'. Well in the testosterone-filled minds of my young friends, and I guess many others besides, the term 'muffin the mule' took on it a completely new meaning. Anyway that's where the idea came from.

Did not get the double meaning until I read it the second time. That's why I wrote that you surprised me with your humor!!!

Good fun write Michael. I have just looked up the nursery rhyme of the Muffin Man and it was first written down circa 1820.

A witty poem Michael. Thanks very much.

A sweet treat once a week such as a muffin is not too bad provided one exercises and eats sensibly the rest of the week.

            Keep writing in 2018.
