Tune: Fulda
('We have a gospel to proclaim')
Genesis Chapters 12, 15, 17 parts
********
Word to Abram, it was sure told
Leave your country, people, household
Go to a land, the Lord will show
You, as you journey you shall know
I will bless you, the Lord He said
Here in His word, promises read
The Lord would make Abram's name great
Blessings would be family trait
Covenant the Lord with Him made
Fear not, trust me, be unafraid
Your name not Abram now, but be
Abraham, father of nations, see
In his children, his seed, shall all
Nations of earth be blessed, for call
Of the Lord did Abraham hear
Obeyed God''s voice with lowly fear
In hope believing while there none
Children, not even be one son
But he God's promises believed
He, Sarah, family received

Good write, are you actually going to rewrite all of the Bible?
Thanks Gold. Oohh no - not paraphrase it anyway. Someone has done that in 'The Message' version, and completely ruined things! It really grates with me in places, such as where it says 'Whooppee' or similar!
I have a copy of the Bible in Limerick verse - here is Genesis 17:
This Covenant came into force
And Abram replied almost hoarse,
"I'll never forsake you
Dear God I will take you"
"OK, Abraham! Yes, of course!"
Oh lol, good write Gold. Those syllables fit in - two for 'Abram', and three for 'Abraham' - same person though!
The Bible according to Orchi - should do so well - especially if in limerick form.
Heehee thanks Michael. I don't want it to become like 'The Message' version though. And yet some more modern versions are OK I feel.
Well written and expressed
Thanks Tony.
Welcome
Thanks for this beautiful poem, orchidee. Abraham was definitely a chosen one!
Thanks wc. I've been in the Cathedral in that pic - in the UK.
Forget about re-writing the bible, orchie, start your own TV show! With your own chorus and maybe a few good looking women by your side, you would definitely be a hit! And make tons of money too! That would fulfill your 'prosperous plans'!!!
Thanks Fred.
Thanks STEVE ~ We do indeed nave a GOSPEL ~ to take IN and to give OUT ! Love the ODE to ABRAHAM ~ Yours BRIAN
