What If…

Accidental Poet

What If…

As the sun has crossed the skies

So Sharon, have you crossed my mind

I often wonder of the “what ifs”

If all these years our lives had intertwined

What if, our lives took a different twist?

While a young girl you hadn’t moved away

And we became more acquainted

Where would we be today?

What if, you had looked into my eyes?

Would you have seen all there is to see?

That it’s your sweet smile

In the deepest part of me

What if, our destiny

Was one and the same

That true love smiled upon us

Blessed us with one last name

What if, I could find a way to reach you now?

A direct connection, heart to heart

To bring us closer together

As one love never to part

What if, the powers of heaven

Gave to us this gift

That special love between you and me

What if…

Moody Blues this morning! Thanks AP! There's a yearning in this poem that will make you sad! Maybe just great to think you still have this wonderful feeling about her after all these years and in real life it might have disappeared! Plus (being a woman) she is probably thinking the same thing. Who knows.... maybe you will both find each other again - have you tried?

Thanks for reading Lorna. I did look for her on Facebook about 10 years ago. And I'd thought I found her in Tawas City, Michigan. Same name, same gorgeous face but all grown up. But a few things didn't add up. She was listed as married with a different maiden name, which would suggest that her last name that I knew would be her husband's last name. And her info suggested she was younger than me by like 7 years or so. But her face told me it was the Sharon that I knew from 1967 to 1971. Long story short - it wasn't her, but just an unbelievable co-incidence. Oh well. Then one day I had the thought could she maybe be on here and read my poems for her, and realize that they are about her and I?

          AP,
          I agree with Lorna!
          What if you tried to
          find her?

          She might be thinking
          of the same what ifs!
          As Lorna commented,
          she too may be thinking
          and wondering the same
          what ifs about you!
          Thank you for sharing
          your thoughts about
          Sharon...once again!

              I just did! Thank you.
              As Lorna suggested,
              maybe you should try...
              one more time!

Life fills with all kinds of what ifs. These what ifs are hope, surprise, maybe pain too. wish your what if come true.

What if? The most asked question in our lives and one that can never be answered. Good write AP.

In law the question we always asked was 'What if ?' . In answering it we only considered points of fact. Takes me back. But I guess it's different here where there can never be an answer in fact - only in unfounded speculation. But sometimes it's nice to dream

Very true Michael. All in all, I'm content with where I'm at. Thanks for reading and commenting.

AP, your 'what if' poem got me thinking too now. Not that I would want to be with them, just wondering what happened to them. And yes, it is 'them' not 'her'! Guess I was busy when I was young! 🙂
