EMOTIONS IMPRINTS

Michael Edwards

EMOTIONS IMPRINTS

No moonlight stained the inky sky

as lashing rain clouds smote

the crumbling lichen coated walls

with tarnished cross-keys set in stone.

Inside in kinship and at ease

the boisterous friends and family

stood round the glowing logs of red

as steam from sodden outerwear

ran down the diamond window panes

Fine carolling in harmony

like incense rose and filled the air

and in the days that followed on

emotions imprints lingered long.

May those emotions print inside the house forever. Good write Michael.

The artwork is wondrous, when I opened the poem the artwork caused me to gasp, literally, so before I read the poem I wrote a poem about the art which you will find as my poem for today. Thank you for making my day.

Aw thank you Andy and I feel real chuffed that my painting should have inspired you thus. It was one of a series of three which I painted based loosely on some very old postcards which I found and, in turn, gave me the inspiration. I look forward to reading your poem.

A fine write and pic Michael. We have remembrances, feelings of certain places, etc. Now I won't bore you with 'I remember when....' I shall only waffle on about 1066!

I can recall it all especially the pre-battle preparations when we all participated in the Grand Ceremony of the Polishing of the Shields.

Yes, and then I mucked it all up. I said to Harold, those famous words 'Look up Sir' at the wrong moment - and he did look up!

          Michael,
          A brilliant write and an
          exquisite painting!
          The fine details are
          extraordinary! I’m in
          awe of your talents
          which continue to
          amaze me!

Thanks for sharing MICHAEL ! Love the PICTURE ~ very nostalgic ~ we still have some houses like that in ESSEX and of course several Stately Homes. It is true ~ if all is quiet you can here the sounds of yesteryear preserved in the Wattle & Daub. If you are especially favoured "deja-vu" will also enable you to mingle with former inhabitants ! Love the nostalgia replete in the Ode ! Yours BRIAN

If only they still looked like this - well they do but the view is spoilt by street signs and motor cars - and where have all the perambulators gone?

This poem has worked it's way across two entries! Goldfinch sang its praises. It's so beautiful and haunting. And the painting - well..... Do you have a website and sell your paintings Michael?

            • Michael Edwards

Thanks so much Lorna. Yes I do sell my work which is displayed in many countries including Canada and the USA. I also do commission work, give demonstrations and run workshops. I have a website but I'm afraid I'm not very techy and it tends to get a bit out of date as it is at the current time but if you want to take a peek it's at:

Michael, I really loved the painting. It has a nostalgic look to it. Now I know why Andy was inspired. Great poem too. You have a two-prone talent at hand my friend.
