Tune: Little Cornard
('Hills of the north, rejoice')
Psalm 20
********
The Lord hear you, for He
Open to your prayers be
Name of God of Israel
Defend you, you fare well
Send you help from his sanctuary
Strengthen you out of Zion, see
May He remember too
Your offerings anew
Accept your sacrifice
Burnt for Him, will suffice
May He grant you your heart's desire
Fulfil your counsel, purpose far
We in you salvation
Will rejoice, your nation
And in your name we will
Set up our banners still
Name of our God, He strong and high
Fulfil our petitions, He nigh
Now the Lord saves I know
His anointed does show
His Messiah, He still
Shall show Him His good will
[Shall] Hear Him from His heaven holy
With saving strength bring victory
He will by His right hand
Save out of every land
Those that in Him do trust
Though we mere soil and dust
Some trust in chariots, horses
But we His name we will confess
His name we remember
Blessings on us confer[red]
Others brought down, they fall
But we rise, and stand tall
We upright are, Lord save us, let
The king hear us when we call yet

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 666688 metre. Originally the Psalm was a prayer for the King - David. A very fast rendition of the hymn in the clip, going about 100mph! Too fast for me really.

Listened to the clip and yes it is racing along where a gentle trot is called for. Nice one O
Thanks Michael. I don't mind some alternative tunes to some hymns/songs, but this is bit much. It sounds garbled. Some comments on you tube said it's the normal speed, but I don't think so!
Actually, Orchi, I thought the hymn was cheerful, bright, and not too long! Enjoyable!

Thanks Laura. I don't think it's the normal speed for it though! lol.
Thanks STEVE Lovely paraphrase on PSALM 20 Loved the CHORAL it brought back memories ! At CHRISTMAS for the Messiah in the Phil (Liverpool) we always had the Huddersfield Choral with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra ~ DIVINE ~ Yours BRIAN
Thanks Brian.
Another good one Orchi. The hymn is only slightly faster than we would normally sing it in our choir.
Thanks Gold. I'm getting too old to sing it fast then!
