COASTAL EROSION ~ EXPLOSION !

BRIAN & ANGELA

EVERYONE likes a sea-view from their house

Everyone likes to live near the Coast

Or if you're rich ~ A Holiday Home

Where on the beach we can roast !

We love the sound of the Seagulls

Collect shells and walk on the sand

But sand's not a good foundation

House slip into Sea was not planned !

Coast to land ratio's important

Some Countries have no Coast at all !

But if your house is too close to edge

One day into Sea ~ You will FALL !

My photo show the way it will go

Brick by brick ~ room by room ~ floor by floor

It's not surprising ~ Sea level is rising

Climate change more severe than before !

It's such a shame ~ but who can we blame ?

The blame lies with you and with me

No heed the warning ~ about Global Warning

So we've all ended up ~ IN THE SEA !

Thanks for visiting ~ comments welcome ~ love BRIAN

Due to sea level rise and climate change it is estimated

that Britain will lose over 70 Coastal Dwellings per year

The UK has a high Coast to Land Area ratio (51.4) which

is similar to other Islands (New Zealand ~ Iceland ~ Fiji

Haiti etc) The USA is only 2.2 (20 states have no coast !)

Australia (3.4) but over 90% lie on the Coast ! Some

Countries have NO COAST ~ Austria ~ Switzerland etc !

    Matthew Chapter 7.

    The Wise and Foolish Builders
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Thanks ANDY ~ The moral is "BUILD on the ROCK" and use your Telescope to see the sea ! I live 10 miles from the EAST COAST so my Flat is safe Thanks for your comment ~ BRIAN

I live in the West Midlands and the nearest coastal town to me is Weston-super-Mare which is 105 miles away, the coastal erosion has to get quite severe to reach me - I do not believe it will happen in my lifetime.

Terrible for those involved and well expressed in this work.

Thanks for you empathetic comment MIKE. Many of these homes (several of which in Norfolk are being demolished this week are owned by Pensioners. Very sad indeed ! Yours Brian.

A fine write and pic Brian. Arggh,, the dangers physically - and spiritually of only hearing but not doing, as Gold says!

Thanks STEVE ~ God blesses those who not only hear the "Word of the LORD" but also implement it ~ AMEN ~ BRIAN

          • Fay Slimm.

A scary thought for those near the sea in houses too close to cliffside edge - a needed reminder in perfect rhyme Brian and thank you for sharing it.

Thanks FAY ~ It is a sombre message ~ but I always think a consistent (xaxa etc) rhyme pattern and a little internal rhyme ~ softens the blow. That is why ORAL SAGAS of good & bad news were often in Rhyme or Blank Verse. Thanks for your comment ~ especially as your beloved CORNWALL has the biggest Coast to Land area ratio of any English County ! Yours as ever BRIAN

The picture is a horrible reminder of climate change. I like Andy's post. People who build too closely to the water must prepare for what may happen! Sister Christina

Thanks CHRIS ~ That WAS someone\'s home and many of these Coastal properties (75 of which disappear each year) are owned by Seniors who wanted to RETIRE near the SEA ! They can\'t insure them and they get no compensation ~ SHAME Because \"relatively\" we have 25 times more coast than the USA ~ the problem of coastal erosion and loss of dwellings is much more acute in the UK than the USA ! People are warned but they still BUILD & BUY too close to the edge ! Your case is of course different ! Thanks for caring ~ HERMANO BRIAN Hombre Conservato y Diez Milas de la Costa !
