Religion
Michael Edwards said:

Religion did indeed evolve as a means of suppression - sadly it still does in many ways. My thoughts are very much with you on this subject being very much a realist (who is not far away - Market Harbotough). By the way your poetry is so good - I do hope ypu keep writing and participating here. There is a band of us who regularly swap comments form all sorts of viewpoints and thankfully we are all very tolerant of each others views especially on religion.

Indeed sir and thank you, I wrote this without the first thought of wanting to offend anyone, unfortunately in my experience the strongly religious (up to and including other groups of course) do tend to feel a god given right quite literally to stand on their soap boxes and claim that they are offended by such comments as posted in my poem. They are well within their rights to be offended just as I am to write how I see it :) thanks for reading l, appreciate it

Very strong write Richard. Some people, including Ministers, do try to force religion down peoples throats. I believe that each individual will find their own way into a religion, or not, it is not what others tell you.
I believe in My Spirit and nothing will stop me from that belief but I will not force it on others to believe it, I write about it in my poems but as what I believe.

Despair
Tamara Beryl Latham - The Poet said:

Richard your words ring true and the message, I am certain, could be trumpeted to many of our dearest friends and relatives. :)

This topic is sad, but truthful and you bring the reader into your direct orb with these carefully chosen words.

When you say atoms and molecules in your reply to Brian, does that mean you are a scientist?

Great message in poetic form.
An enjoyable read, especially with your rhyme akimbo/bimbo.

Keep writing!

Despair
BRIAN & ANGELA said:

WELCOME RICHARD ~ Thanks you for your first poem ~ excellent rhythm & rhyming ~ nice STRUCTURE ! Difficult SUBJECT ~ Despair as the result of GUILT for the past. I trust you found some cathartic relief in sharing it ? The Tapestry of our Life is a mixture of LIGHT (positive) and DARK (negative) threads. You mention in your comment that this poem is about the NEGATIVES ! I\'m only 35 but I\'ve made mistakes an I\'ve hurt people. My poem would be melancholy too ~ Sorrow ~ Sadness ~ Lies & Guilt a compilation of all the mistakes I\'ve made. A problem shared is a problem halved and solved. My experience is ~ don\'t bottle things up ~ learn by your mistakes and most people are willing to forgive & forget and wipe the slate clean ~ your WORST ENEMIES can become your BEST FRIENDS ! I\'m a CHRISTIAN (check my site which I share with my FIANCEE ANGELA ~ 30) and through PRAYER & CONFESSION (to GOD and the Injured Party) my CONSCIENCE is kept CLEAR. If you could (and you can !) clear your backlog of GUILT ~ you could ensure you deal with each issue as it arise and free your MIND and CONSCIENCE from DESPAIR ! Hope this helps ~ Yours BRIAN (UK near LONDON)
