Have labs and this struck a chord, when you love them they are not just dogs to you

My deepest condolences for your loss. Too often we as people try and decide what should be deemed important and what shouldn\'t. For some that would see poppy as just some dog would probably cry over more insignificant losses. Your love for poppy was born in and resides in your heart. Let no one judge you for that.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGIA ~ LOVE BRIAN XOX Love this poem because it does put DEMENTIA into a framework ! People I know with Dementia are indeed jut like ZOMBIES and not like the people i knew.! The "eye twinkle" goes replaced by a blank stare ~ they are incoherent and talk gibberish etc ~ lovely people ~ wrongly wired ~ so sad. Your poem is cathartic ~ next time I visit my Uncle Jim ~ I will think ZOMBIE and perhaps it won't seem so bad. Great poem ~ difficult subject ~ BRIAN

Wow! What an amazing commentary on time, life and the juxtaposition of the two! I agree with Brian...the rhythmic pulse of the lines really supports and contributes to the poem's theme :)

HI GEORGIA - WELCOME. Awesome first poem because it's straight from your heart ! Love the structure pulsating with rhyme and rhythm as befits the subject - Tick -Tock - Tick - Tock - the passage of time never stops. There is a time to live and a time to die and your Granddad's time had come. It is sad but when my Grandparents died I knew they had gone to a better place. It was sad for me but a happy new beginning for them in Heaven. The analogy you draw is a paradox between the inanimate watch and your living Granddad because in the end even though he stopped his watch ticked on. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful and mystical poem - BRIAN
