The Battle
Bella Shepard said:
My friend, I can\'t help but see a brilliant metaphor in this poem for what is about to change in our country, our world. Everything you say rips at my heart, for I know we will be fighting battles far into the future, against an enemy driven by deceipt and greed, whose aim is to divide and conquer. The weapon of choice for this enemy is not the traditional armory of war, but to manipulate, spread doubt and confusion, to create chaos to succeed . Sorry for the rant, but the day before this inaugration I\'m feeling an overwheling apprehension, and dread for the day after it. Thank you my friend for putting it into words.

Life is a battle and one we are forced to fight every day. It is hard to maintain the energy to continue. Good write Tony

A great metaphor in this poem Tony it seems to me to lament the passing of childhood and time itself. Lovely

Haunting indeed! I have seen plenty of abandoned restaurants and they are always depressed and sad looking. I\'ve never seen an abandoned McDonanld\'s though, and now I can imagine how I would feel if I did. Well done, Tony!

Now that just pulled at the heartstringsβ¦ reminds me of older dilapidations, like a derelict Coney Island with Zoltar the Magnificent (courtesy of Tom Hanks)β¦ them Golden arches were symbols of brighter, more innocent, more carefree days. ππ»πππ»
