Destined to fly
Nicholas Browning said:

Never forget the lessons that pain and emptiness taught you. You\'re stronger now, and you will continue to grow.
I gladly look forward to seeing those wings. Make sure you stick around, so we can all see them some day.

Very good write and very positive. The lines
\"But on the other side
Of that river
Is a brighter tomorrow.\"

say it all about our lives.

And what a beautiful smile it is!!!!
Cannot make up my mind what I like better, the picture or the poem.
Maybe you should change your moniker from lost-but-not-broken to LOOK-AT-ME-NOW!
Love your writing.
Be strong and get better!!!!!

I forgive you
Fay Slimm. said:

Your final line lends wisdom to forgiveness dear poet friend. A verse which honestly faces sad facts yet ends with remembering that God forgives those who know no better. A fine conclusion to use against hurt.

I can literally feel the pain woven throughout the lines and stanzas. Very emotional poem with a glorious ending. Kill em with kindness!
Judging from your writing, you are on the road to recovery, bravo, and keep on moving to a much brighter future.

Did you ever really care?
Stephen.Sapaugh said:

Keep writing your emotions and thoughts in poems. Its a therapeutic practice that will help you in days to come. Due to the subject matter of this poem, and your profile I won\'t write a critique. However, I would like to say that I am proud that you can put pen to paper in these trying times that you seem to be having. In everything even though you want nothing to do with your Dad right now I am sure that relationship will be rekindled at some point. Relationships are hard regardless of who is in them, and you being at the budding of the beginning of your life I\'m sure have maybe a touch of wanderlust. Most of us go through a period where we just want to get away from our parents, and pave our own path. But, at some point we look back, and just want to hang out with our parents even if they weren\'t the best when we were growing up. I came from a similar situation and understand what your going through. But there is a light in the end of the tunnel, and even though we get hurt we learn to forgive. And accept our family as they are instead of how we want them to be.

Powerful, you are so strong. This is so hard to read, when I miss my girl every day, but there\'s one thing to maybe look forward to is braking that cycle.
As I know what you feel and would never let mine feel the same, as I did when I realised the same.

Thank God I read burning-embers comment before starting to write here. I wanted to say the same thing!
Love your writing, love your poem, want to read a lot more, and yes, the last for lines could be a poem on their own. Short, meaningful, to the point, and very well written.

You are wise beyond your years by anyones measure. This is a lovely piece. The last verse is amazing. In fact the last verse as a stand alone piece, just those 4 lines are the most poignant i have read on here.

What is life?
burning-embers said:

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And dont be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There\'s a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark

Walk on through the wind
Walk on thru through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you\'ll never walk alone
You\'ll never walk alone

\"It is what it is\" as your poem so eloquently expresses. It can be a bitch at times , and oh so beautiful at others. Do you think it may have been designed that way? Just a thought.

Perfection
burning-embers said:

Old git tho i may be, i do recall some of my time spent being your wonderful age. That was when the 1960\'s were becoming the 70\'s and everything was about growing up and doing things to \'find ones self\'. i never understood quite how to do that but all the popular musicians were talking about it. I shrugged it off and got on with my career and married young. Sometime later probably around age 40 i realised that finding myself was just about accepting me for what i am. We\'re all different, we\'re all valid. To quote the sentiments of Max Ehrmann, wotever you are you have as much right to be here as the stars and the trees, for you are a child of the universe.
