As a child, the house rang to the sounds of opera on sundays when father played his records. My young ears, more accustomed to my two big sisters 45 rock n roll voices, took offence and with it the opportunity to play elsewhere.
Overall I avoid the stuff but there are certain pieces which are simply so superb. Yes, the popular pieces please my ears no end.
